In a tragic case that has sparked outrage across the nation, Arapahoe County, Colorado District Attorney Amy Padden’s decision to offer probation and community service to a 15-year-old illegal alien responsible for the death of a county resident is a glaring miscarriage of justice and an example of misplaced priorities on illegal immigration by our elected officials.

Kaitlyn Weaver, 24, a promising young woman with her life ahead of her, was killed when the unlicensed teen, driving at 90 mph in a 45 mph zone in an uninsured vehicle, slammed into her car. The sentence? Two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and a requirement to attend school and obey the law. This amounts to a slap on the wrist for a reckless act that cost an innocent life.

Weaver’s death is a heartbreaking reminder of the consequences of leniency toward illegal aliens who break the law. The teen drove at a dangerous speed with other minors in the vehicle and caused a fatal crash. The juvenile’s mother says her son took the car without permission, so she is not legally responsible. Because the vehicle the teen stole was uninsured, Weaver’s family was stuck with nearly $1 million in medical bills. Yet, Padden chose a punishment so light it insults law-abiding residents in addition to Weaver’s grieving family.

According to reports, the plea deal requires the teen to admit guilt but imposes no jail time, allowing him to apply for asylum while remaining in the community. This decision sends a chilling yet all-too-common message: the life of an American citizen like Weaver is worth less than the political optics of appearing compassionate toward illegal aliens whose actions get innocent people killed.

ICE Nabs Illegal Migrant Who Got Probation For Hit-And-Run That Killed Colorado Woman

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of a 16-year-old Colombian illegal migrant on Thursday after he had only received probation for a hit and run that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Kaitlyn Weaver.

On May 13, the illegal migrant teen had been granted probation after killing Weaver last year in Aurora, Colo.

ICE confirmed the arrest of the teen and his family members on May 20 to the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday, with Fox’s National Correspondent Bill Melugin first reporting on the arrest.

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a 16-year-old criminal alien from Colombia May 20 in Aurora, Colorado. The minor, who was convicted of reckless driving resulting in death, was arrested along with his family who are also illegal aliens,” ICE said.

“The minor was convicted in Colorado’s 18th Judicial district and was sentenced to probation and community service,” ICE added. “As part of its routine operations, ICE arrests aliens who commit crimes and other individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws. All aliens in violation of U.S. immigration law may be subject to arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States, regardless of nationality.”

According to Weaver’s father, John Weaver, the Colorado prosecutor had initially promised to pursue the maximum sentence against the illegal migrant teen of two years in youth corrections, CBS News reported.

However, months later Amy Padden stepped in as Arapahoe County’s new district attorney, with the teen later being offered two years’ probation if he pleaded guilty, the outlet reported.  .  .  .

So Colorado voters voted in a radical leftist as their new DA.  And the first thing she does is to reverse the promise the former DA made to the victim's family and let the killer off the hook.



Colorado prosecutor offers unlicensed and undocumented teen probation after deadly crash

The Arapahoe District Attorney's Office is defending its decision to give probation and community service to a teenager who was driving illegally and, in the country illegally, when he killed a woman.   

The accident happened last July in Aurora. The victim, Kaitlyn Weaver, was headed home from work when a Jeep, barreling through a residential neighborhood, slammed into her car. The speed limit in the area was 45 mph. Investigators say the driver was doing more than 90 mph.

"She didn't even see him coming," her dad, John Weaver, said. "That's how fast he was going. She was effectively killed instantly."

He says he and his wife Michelle removed their daughter from life support 2 days later, "How do you fathom that loss?" 

Weaver says his daughter was a born caregiver and volunteered for a suicide hotline before taking a job at a drug rehab center in Aurora, "She was really trying to make a difference in their lives every day."

She was 24 years old. The suspect was 15 years old and had other kids in the car with him. He was charged with vehicular homicide. Due to his age, state law shields him from being publicly identified in court records.  .  .  .

Colorado State Law may shield him from being publicly identified.  But ICE has no such provision.  According to Stephen Miller, his entire family is being deported.
