Swedish climate doomer turned anti-Israel campaigner Greta Thunberg will lead a shipload of protesters to Gaza on Sunday to stand with pro-Palestinian activists.

The trip is organised by the Freedom Flotilla, a coalition of groups opposed to Israel’s presence in the disputed territory, AFP reports.

Rima Hassan, a European Parliament member also taking part in the trip, said the operation had “several aims: to condemn the humanitarian blockade and ongoing genocide, the impunity granted to the state of Israel and raise international awareness.”

Thunberg has repeatedly accused Israel of genocide in the years since the October 7 massacre by Hamas terrorists while appearing at protests against the Jewish state.

A senior Israeli defense source confirmed the matter to the 'Post,' adding that Defense Minister Israel Katz is expected to make more decisions on Thursday.

The IDF decided that the "Madleen," which is sailing to Gaza and carrying 12 pro-Palestinian activists, including climate activist Greta Thunberg, will not be allowed to approach or dock in the Gaza Strip, KAN reported on Wednesday.

A senior Israeli defense source confirmed the matter to The Jerusalem Post, adding that Defense Minister Israel Katz is expected to make more decisions on Thursday.

The ship is expected to arrive within a week.

According to the KAN report, Israel initially considered allowing the ship to dock in Gaza after security officials determined it did not pose a threat. However, authorities later reversed this decision.

IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin told reporters at a press conference: “The IDF is prepared to operate on all fronts, including in the maritime arena,” adding: “We will act accordingly.”

Israel needs to tightly control the Gaza theater of operations because any delivery of 'humanitarian aid' could really be an arms delivery from Iranian sources.

If Hamas surrenders; releases all hostages, living and dead; and leaves Gaza, the rebuilding can begin.  Let's hope The Gazans don't divert resources from schools, hospitals, and food distribution to build new tunnels and new rockets to fire at Israel.

That will likely create fresh hostages.  Maybe Israel could have them sign waivers?  Best to not start a precedent of allowing spectators to land in a war zone in the first place. Besides, the UN already considers Israel a "pariah state."

If Hamas still operates in Gaza, the last thing they want is for the flotilla to be attacked by arabs.  There is a battle for world opinion, and unfortunately, the Israelis are not very skilled at defending themselves.  The only places where they enjoy a moderate level of support are the United States and a few christian nations in subsaharan Africa.  The rest of the world is under the impression they are committing genocide through starvation.  Israel needs to change their tactics or they will be completely isolated.

Instead of using the sails (there is plenty of wind) they have been using the Madleen's 170hp diesel engine (despite claims their sails are 'full'). If they head straight to Gaza from their current location they'll arrive in the morning tomorrow. If they switch to their sails they'll arrive in the afternoon. Actually, Hamas is an organization elevated to power in 2006 and kept there with Israel's blessings and ongoing financial support for the purpose of keeping separate the political ties of the West Bank and Gaza --- allowing Israel to grow its settlements in the West Bank without triggering a credible threat of a Palestinian state.
