New electricity prices ‘not welcome news’ for Australians in some states

The Australian Energy Regulator has revealed residential energy prices will increase in NSW, South Australia, and Queensland.

The costs of electricity will be higher than last year, as the wholesale costs and the price of transporting electricity have risen, according to AER.

The AER said retail costs, such as the cost of billing customers, running call centres, acquiring new customers, managing defaults, and the rollout of smart meters, have added to the price hikes.

In NSW, residential customers without controlled load will be hit with price hikes of 8.5 per cent to 9.1 per cent, while customers with controlled load will face increases of 8.3 per cent to 9.7 per cent.

Has any of this Green New Screwdeal nonsense ever been put directly to the voters in a public referendum?

Of course not.  That would provide the opportunity for a full and open public debate about the efficacy, reliability, and cost of this elitist nonsense.

I beg to differ.

My brother has lived in Australia for over 40 years in Adelaide and is perfectly fine with the charge by renewables, even though he recognizes their electricity prices are some of the highest in the world.

I have tried reasoning with him, but he puts me off as he says if the people want it, then he has no problem paying for its cost.

To top it off, he worked in an oil company his entire career.

People down there are weird for the most part as they have almost unlimited amounts of cheap, clean natural gas to use instead and opt for the idiocy of expensive and unreliable wind and solar.

So were people in Massachusetts ... until they got their higher utility bills this past Fall.  Gov Healy has recently given lip-service to increasing the available supply of natural gas in the Bay State.

What?! What?! What?! More demon methane in the Bay State?!  Heresy ... or sanity ... depending which side you are on.

I lived in Connecticut for several years and no natural gas pipelines were permitted to pass through to offset closing down nuclear plants and lessening usage of heating oil.

It is the same in New York and the rest of NE.

Underlying New York state is the largest natural gas field ever discovered in the US.  But the NY politicians refuse to allow anyone to access it.

It will remain there until there is sanity once again in that state

A developer is seeking the green light from the Trump administration to restart construction on two natural gas pipeline projects in New York that had been abandoned in the last five years.

Oklahoma-based pipeline developer Williams Companies is specifically looking to revive the controversial Constitution pipeline and the Northeast Supply Enhancement project, as part of a deal the Trump administration made with New York state to advance its energy agenda.

I know one Aussie person (via a music relationship), he is ultra liberal... and speaks it fluently. At one time the country was known for rugged men, now not-so-much.
