A federal judge on Thursday blocked the Trump Administration from revoking the legal status of international students nationwide while their legal challenges are going through the court system.

According to the AP, California-based US District Judge Jeffrey White, a George W. Bush appointee, said Trump’s immigration actions “wreaked havoc not only on the lives of Plaintiffs here but on similarly situated F-1 nonimmigrants across the United States and continues do so.”

The judge said students can still be arrested but he blocked immigration authorities from stripping their legal status.

AP reported:

    A judge in California blocked the Trump administration Thursday from terminating the legal status of international students nationwide while a court case challenging previous terminations is pending.

    The order by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey S. White in Oakland bars the government from arresting or incarcerating the plaintiffs and similarly situated students; from transferring any of them outside the jurisdiction of their residence; from imposing any adverse legal effect on students and from reversing the reinstatement of the legal status until the case is resolved. Students can still be arrested for violent crimes.

Either Trump takes dramatic action or he might as well quit.  I say cut the budget from 50% of federal judges, ram rod it though Congress and make it happen.

Next push an agenda to cut the Senate in half, and reduce the House by 30%.  Take it to the American people and force Congress to agree.  No one in the USA electorate will be against reducing the size of both bodies. When this country was founded,  the population was a few percentage points in size compared to what is is today.  Cut, cut , cut!!!

Congress is largely non-functional.  In part, it is because there are too many cooks in the kitchen.  Cut, cut, cut!!!!

I seem to recall early in the DOGE mission you were passionately against wholesale cuts to the +2 million strong federal bureaucracy.

Why now do you wish to be cutting the other two branches of government and not the bloated bureaucracy contained in the Executive branch?

I say it's time for an American president (Trump) to take the Andy Jackson approach and tell these rogue district court judges to go pound sand!

Appeal ... jurisdiction, standing ... and applicability of ruling outside judge's district ... only the US Supreme Court should make a ruling or set a precedent that applies to all Federal Court Districts.

One man in a black robe in Cali can't have more power than the Congress, the President, and the US Supreme Court if we are to pretend we still have a Representative Constitutional Federal Republic.

This is the tyrant’s playbook. They always hide behind “legality.” They never admit what is really going on.

The Anti-Federalist Federal Farmer sounded the same alarm.

“Men who govern will in doubtful cases construe laws and constitutions most favorably for increasing their own powers.”

Give them any ambiguity, and they will twist it to justify more power for themselves. ...
