Trump drops f-bomb, pressures Republicans to get in line behind his legislation
by Mychael Schnell, Emily Brooks, Brett Samuels and Alex Gangitano - 05/20/25 11:02 AM ET

President Trump on Tuesday pressed House Republicans to fall in line behind a massive bill containing key pieces of his agenda, giving lawmakers clarity about where he stands on some of the package’s biggest sticking points during a rare trip to the Capitol.

Trump pushed moderate Republicans from blue states to give up their fight over the state and local tax (SALT) deduction, while warning members not to “f— with Medicaid” as some lawmakers eye changes to the program.

“It’s not a question of holdouts. We have a tremendously unified party,” Trump said before his meeting with the GOP conference. “There are some people who want a couple of things that maybe I don’t like or that they’re not going to get.”

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act has run into a series of hurdles in the House as different factions within the conference clash over priorities. Deficit hawks have pushed for changes to avoid adding to the debt, while moderates have sought an increase in the SALT cap.

A White House official said that Trump made clear in the meeting that he’s losing patience with all holdout factions of the conference, including the SALT Caucus and the House Freedom Caucus, and he insisted every Republican should vote “yes.”

Nobody should be getting more of anything.  To reduce the deficit and to slow the growth of the National Debt, people will have to get less, and learn to live with that.

Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid should be audited to identify waste, fraud, and abuse that can be eliminated.  Not a dime for illegal border crossers, except a one-way ticket home.

They can increase Government revenue by allowing more mining, more drilling, and more timber harvesting on Federal lands.

They need to cut Federal Spending.
They need to grow GDP, not including Government, Education, Healthcare, and Defense.
They need to slow the rate of healthcare inflation.
They need to slow the rate of education inflation.
They need to slow the rate of housing inflation.
They need deregulation to release the animal spirits of capitalist enterprise.

They need trust bust monopolies, dualopolies, oligarchies, cartels, syndicates, and other anti-competitve structures that are impeding price competition among suppliers and manufactruers.

They need an American Energy Bill of Rights to protect the domestic energy sector from Global Climate Change nonsense to encourage long-term capital investments necessary to drive down American energy prices and costs.

They need an American Manufacturing Bill of Rights to have the US Federal Government advocate for American exports and to reduce the Federal, state, and local regultaory impediments to manufacturing growth in America.

They need an American Supply Chain Bill of Rights to encourage diversification of American supply chains among a basket of domestic and foreign suppliers for economic and national security.

They need an American Capital Bill of Rights to encourage risk taking, long-term investment, and wealth creation while not socializing private losses.

They need a Taxation Equality Bills of Rights so every class and type of Taxpayer bears the same % rate of tax burden so all sources of income are treated equally among wages and capital gains.
