Treason? D.C. Suburb Arlington County, Virginia, Votes to Ban Police From Contacting Federal Immigration Authorities Over Arrests of Illegal Alien Terrorists, Gang Members, Violent Felons and Human Traffickers

The progressive Democrat-controlled county board of Arlington, Virginia, located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., unanimously voted on Tuesday to ban police from informing ICE and other federal government immigration authorities about arrests of illegal alien Terrorists, gang members, violent felons and human traffickers, revoking previously granted authority given to “maintain community safety.”

The five board members, Chair Takis P. Karantonis, Vice Chair Matt de Ferranti, Maureen Coffey, Susan Cunningham and Julius D. “JD” Spain, Sr., all voted to strike Section 7 of “Arlington’s Commitment to Strengthening Trust with Our Immigrant Communities“, adopted in 2022 and updated in November 2024 in response to President Trump’s reelection.

Like their fellow Democrats in Congress across the Potomac and across the country, the board has chosen to go in hard in support of illegal alien terrorists and gang members at the expense of the lives and safety of American citizens and legal immigrants.

This development does not surprise me.

I visited Arlington, VA about three weeks ago and discovered that it has become an East Coast version of Oakland, California (or possibly, Berkeley).

The downtown area is dominated by high-rise office and residential buildings. My understanding is that a high percentage of these workers are either directly employed by government or else contract employees in private business. Rents of course are sky-high.

As for the people that one sees, the average age appears to be about 28, if that. Nearly everyone you encounter is remarkably young and fit, and there are many young children and infants present, especially accompanying women in Islamic garb. 

Local shops and restaurants are only somewhat upscale, but the price of everything is astronomical. Two cups of coffee and two breakfast sandwiches at Dunkin'? Nearly $30.     

Dinner and drinks for four, at a barbecue joint cost me $250.

Evening walks around the surrounding residential neighborhoods (featuring many small homes clearly in need of repair)... I saw dozens of yard signs proclaiming support for government workers and for LGBTQ+ rights, and hatred for Trump. Nearly all the cars I saw were hybrids or EV's - there were very few pickup trucks around.

Having not visited Arlington is about 30 years, the changes were quite striking, and that's when I began to compare what I observed with what I had more recently encountered in the Bay Area.
