Solar fury hits earth: X2.7 flare triggers radio blackouts across five continents
The sun isn’t just rising—it’s raging.
On Wednesday, the fiery ball of gas unleashed two massive flares, including the strongest eruption of the year so far.
These back-to-back solar storms have caused shortwave radio blackouts across five continents, with scientists watching closely for signs that the sun’s activity is ramping up.
According to Spaceweather.com, parts of North America, South America, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East have reported shortwave radio blackouts since Tuesday.
The solar flare, which peaked at 4:25 am. ET, hurled streams of plasma and charged particles into the cosmos as the sun fired off a huge X-class flare.
