Bill Maher slams Democrats for embracing AOC as a 2028 candidate
Comedian Bill Maher trashed Democrats for backing a potential presidential bid from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who he said shouldn't be at the top of the party's ticket in 2028.
On his show Real Time With Bill Maher on Friday night, Maher was adamant that the "Squad" Democrat, who has been crisscrossing the country with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on a "Fighting Oligarchy" tour, should not be the party's nominee for president in three years.
"It shouldn't be her, it shouldn't be her," the comedian flatly stated.
The sentiment was echoed by Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), who was a guest on the show.
When asked whether she thought Ocasio-Cortez should be the Democratic Party's nominee in 2028, Smith said, "No," before backtracking and adding that it wasn't her job to make that decision.
"It's not my job to pick who the candidate is," the Minnesota senator said.
