Will he argue, like Harvard professors, he was wrongly arrested because he was only exercising his "free speech" rights?

Minnesota state employee who allegedly caused over $20K in damages to Teslas is let off by woke DA — as cops slam deal
By Patrick Reilly
Published April 22, 2025, 8:44 a.m. ET

A progressive district attorney has declined to charge a Tim Walz state employee allegedly caught causing $20,000 damage by vandalizing half a dozen Teslas — a decision ripped by the “frustrated” local police chief.

The suspected vandal, 33-year-old Minnesota government employee Dylan Bryan Adams, was allegedly spotted keying the vehicles and stripping their paint off while out walking his dog around the city.

Despite what police believe to be evidence of Adams committing felonies, Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty will seek diversion rather than criminal charges.

“This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution, as well as reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses,” the attorney’s office said in a statement, CBS News reported.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at the time of the incident that the damage in each case was the equivalent of a felony.

Democrat County Attorney Lets Anti-Tesla Terrorist Off the Hook

by Tyler Durden
Tuesday, Apr 22, 2025 - 04:55 PM
Authored by Matt Margolis via PJ Media,

So an unhinged leftist goes through downtown Minneapolis, casually walking his dog and keying Teslas as if it’s a hobby. Not just one or two vehicles, but six Teslas, to be exact, with damage totaling more than $20,000. Caught red-handed on video, arrested by police, and unequivocally identified as 33-year-old Dylan Adams, a state employee no less.

Seems like a slam-dunk criminal case, right? Wrong. Instead of holding him accountable, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty decided to give him a pass.

Yes, you read that right. The man caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage, but rather than face criminal charges, Adams gets the warm embrace of “diversion.” According to Moriarty’s office, its priority is ensuring that he “keeps his job” and has the opportunity to pay restitution. Really? Is this what justice looks like now under liberal leadership—a coddling of the perpetrator while his victims are left wondering if their property even matters? This isn’t prosecutorial discretion; it’s left-wing activism.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty
As a Democrat affiliated with Minnesota’s DFL Party, Moriarity has consistently championed leftist criminal justice reforms, including claims of racial disparities in marijuana stings and traffic stops, advocating for reduced incarceration, and emphasizing rehabilitation for juvenile offenders. Her tenure as Hennepin County Public Defender has been marked by clashes with establishment figures over her vocal stance on systemic racism. She also publicly identified as queer during her campaign, aligning herself with broader social justice movements.

This is a case study in everything wrong with progressive governance. Minneapolis police did their job. They identified a suspect, arrested him, and presented the case to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. But instead of enforcing the law, Moriarty turned it into a joke. The perpetrator is a state employee, a data analyst for the Department of Human Services. If that sounds familiar, it’s because bureaucrats like him are protected at all costs under leftist policies, and that protection comes at our expense.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
Someone from the federal government needs to indict this pr***.  They indicated each car being damaged is a felony on the news today.  That is six felonies.  I say throw his worthless *ss in prison for five years per car.  And determine if he was encouraged by anyone in the Minnesota government to perform these criminal acts, and if so, indict them for criminal conspiracy, and throw the key away.

Can we trade MN, the northern part of IL to Canada in exchange for Alberta and Saskatchewan?

Hennepin County Attorney's Excuse for Not Charging Tesla Vandal Has a Small Problem
By Nick Arama | 5:25 PM on April 24, 2025
RedState

...  Instead of charging him, they put him in "adult diversion," which means that if he complies with the requirements they set forth, which generally require restitution and perhaps community service, that may be it.

The police were clearly upset with the result. The Minneapolis Police Chief said they did their job, and any frustration as to the result should be directed at Moriarity's office.

When the Hennepin County Attorney, Mary Moriarty, was asked to justify her decision by the media, she claimed it was in the "best interests of public safety."

"That is because a felony conviction destabilizes their lives, they may lose their job, lose their housing, and it can just lead to future criminal activity," she claimed. By that argument, you should never charge anyone for anything because it might upset the alleged criminal's life.  ...

Except there's a small problem and question that the Mankato Free Press observed.
Quote
But one case is striking for the argument Moriarty has made around Adams being a first-time offender.

A 19-year-old Robbinsdale woman with no criminal record was charged with first-degree felony property damage on Monday after she allegedly keyed her coworker’s car at the White Castle in Brooklyn Park. The damage to the car was estimated at $7,000. She is due to make her first court appearance in two weeks. ...
How do you charge this woman with a felony when you give Adams such a deal for allegedly doing what appears to be far more? Does Moriarity want to explain what's going on here?  ...

America's wokest DA breaks her own rules to let Tim Walz worker who keyed six Teslas off the hook

Daily Mail
By GERMANIA RODRIGUEZ POLEO
24 April 2025

America's wokest DA has been accused of flouting her own rules to ensure a Minnesota state worker walked free after keying six Teslas.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty's office revealed this week that they dropped charges against 33-year-old Dylan Bryan Adams after he reportedly admitted to causing around $21,000 in damages during four separate incidents.

Adams will instead be entered into an adult diversion program for first-time, low-level offenders, which could even allow him to keep his job as a is a program consultant at the state's Department of Human Services.

Even the liberal-leaning Minnesota Star Tribune has slammed Moriarty's decision in an op-ed where they note her own office's policy, which says that diversion is only meant for property crimes of less than $5,000.

Bryan - whose ultimate boss is Minnesota's Democrat Governor Tim Walz - caused more than four times that amount of damage but won't even have a conviction to his name.

'Moriarty either ignored it or bent it to fit a narrative,' columnist Brandi Bennet writes.

'Either way, the public is left wondering: What exactly are the rules in Hennepin County, and who are they written to protect?'

DailyMail.com has reached out to Moriarty's office for comment on her diversion policy.

Moriarty, a career public defender before becoming district attorney, has faced mounting criticism for her soft-on-crime approach, often prioritizing leniency over public safety.
