You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

I'm a broken record, I get it. I hope Trump knows what he's doing. This could cause consumers here a lot of pain.

Trump is making "made in America" a profitable thing again.
No tariff. There will be pain. It will hurt. But history will tell the tale.

There might literally be "pain"...$7.84 Billion in annual drug imports from China. Can Medicaid, Medicare Part D plans, private insurance and cash buyers afford a 100% increase in cost for some drugs? Time will tell I guess.

China does not have a representative Government.
China does not have a private economy.
China does not have private intellectual property rights.

China's trading relationships are a Chinese Communist Party strategy to catch up economically and technically with the West via theft.

China's 'promise' of cheap labor, no environmental law impediments, no labor law impediments, and 1 billion new consumers - a manufacturing business utopia - is the lure for the West to sell China the rope which the Chi-coms will use to hang the West.

So, WTF was China allowed to join the WTO and to be been given Most Favored Nation trading status?  Greedy, lazy, corrupt, short-sighted, and naeve American leadership?  The same Big Tech kleptocratic oligarchs that are 'shocked' that Trump is imposing tariffs?  They are dumb or selectively willfully blind.

  • Didn't vote for McCain Dole Romney Trump !
China goods will suddenly appear like the drugs that pump throughout America, through channels that are dubious at best.

Good riddance is all I have to say. Suck on your lithium plastic junk. They should of never been given trade status in the first place. Keep praising your godless leaders China peons.

Conditional MFN status first granted by Jimmy Carter in 1980.  That status was made permanent by Bill Clinton in 2000 as part of China being granted entry into the WTO.

Might have been nice to exclude all the other nations then? And maybe ease into these from China?

And as Mr. Wonderful explained, there is not a court system in China to turn to when your copyrights, patents or licensing is criminally infringed upon.

I'm ignorant here... if someone in China steals our patents/IP, and then they export to us, do we have recourse at all?

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
China is also in debt to the tune that equals ours, if not greater.

So how long can they last without the cash flow? My bet is not long.

You can sue the retailers who frequently include Wal Mart and Home Depot.

Yes.  Slap 125% tariffs on Chinese goods.
