The U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) is a nonpartisan organization funded by Congress to promote conflict resolution and global peace. USIP recently faced turmoil following the dismissal of nearly all of its 300 employees amid a broader initiative by the Trump administration to dismantle the group. Following the firings, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee Nate Cavanaugh was appointed to lead the organization.
