House Republican moves to rein in tariff powers
« on: April 05, 2025, 05:07:33 am »
Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon’s bill mirrors a bipartisan Senate bill introduced Thursday.

Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon said he plans to introduce a companion bill to the bipartisan Senate legislation aimed at reclaiming Congress’ authority over tariffs, becoming the first House Republican to openly challenge the powers President Donald Trump is using to launch a massive global trade war.

Bacon confirmed his plans to POLITICO on Friday as market losses continued to pile up and rattle Republicans on Capitol Hill.

As Donald Trump‘s job approval rating continues to slide and the economy continues to decline under him, more pressure is gonna be put on congressional Republicans to make a choice between America or Donald Trump. You’re starting to see them become a little bit more emboldened. We need to see more.

The silver lining in all of this is that this could be the beginning of the end of Trump’s MAGA movement. It needs to be put ion the ash heap of every other radicalized movement like fascism, Marxism, etc..

The hardcore MAGA’s will never abandon Donald Trump. But a good chunk of the plurality of voters who voted for him are not true MAGA. They voted for him because he said he would bring down the price of groceries on day one and warned of a big stock market crash if Harris were to win

If this was Joe Biden doing this, I doubt the so-called conservative blogosphere would be cheering this on like they are with Donald Trump.

Here’s just one small example of a conservative   debunking Donald Trump’s tariff list.

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
