Judge Boasberg poised to hold Trump admin in contempt, takes down names of DHS officials: 'Pretty sketchy'
Boasberg told the court he would rule on the matter as early as next week
By Breanne Deppisch , Jake Gibson Fox News

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg on Thursday grilled Trump administration lawyers over whether they defied a court order blocking deportations under a wartime immigration law — a potential step toward holding the administration in contempt.

At issue is the administration’s use of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan nationals, including alleged members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang. Boasberg pressed Deputy Assistant Attorney General Drew Ensign on why the government appeared to ignore an emergency injunction last month halting those deportations.

The administration has appealed the underlying case to the Supreme Court. But for now, Boasberg is weighing whether there is probable cause to move forward with contempt proceedings — a question that remained open after a tense exchange in court.

Boasberg said he would issue a decision as early as next week on how to proceed if he finds grounds to hold the administration in contempt.

During the hearing, Ensign was repeatedly questioned about who in the Trump administration had information about the flights and when the three deportation flights left U.S. soil for El Salvador. At least 261 migrants were deported that day, including more than 100 Venezuelan nationals who were subject to removal "solely on the basis" of the law temporarily blocked by the court.

"You maintain that the government was in full compliance with the court’s order on March 15, correct?" Boasberg asked Ensign.

Ensign said yes, to which the judge responded: "It seems to me the government acted in bad faith that day."

"If you really believed everything you did that day was legal and would survive a court challenge, you would not have operated the way that you did," Boasberg said.

IMO, it's a concerted effort to give the average non-political public a false impression of impending 'doom'.

For example, have you checked the DRUDGE REPORT today?  Chicken Little is a piker for chrissakes!!

What in the world happened to Matt?

I may be wrong, but this contempt thing will rocket the whole thing to SCOTUS. They knew this was coming, and they (Trump Admin) may have pushed so hard and fast in an attempt to get to that specific point in under 100(130?) days.

Just sitting and pondering.

IT IS NOT DRUDGE ANYMORE. Look it up. The site was bought out by some Liberal group years ago.
Used to look at Drudge daily. Haven't been there in so long I can't remember the last time.
Drudge as we knew it, is gone for good.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

Is Matt Drudge even still among the living? Serious question.

Last we knew, still alive. Probably happily retired in Florida.

And yes, Matt Drudge and his father Bob appear to have left the Internet business back in the late 2010s.

REPORT: Rogue Federally Judge Repeatedly Smirked, Rolled His Eyes While Berating Trump Admin In Court

Published 12 hours ago

on April 3, 2025

By Cullen McCue

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, an Obama appointee who has attempted to thwart the Trump Administration’s deportation plans through judicial overreach, repeatedly “smirked” and rolled his eyes at DOJ lawyers who were arguing their case on Thursday, according to courtroom reporter Julie Kelly.

Boasberg — who placed a restraining order on Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 and attempted to order planes carrying dangerous gang members to turn around midair — reportedly threatened to hold administration officials in contempt of court for defying the impossible order. Boasberg pressed Deputy Assistant Attorney General Drew Ensign in court on Thursday, repeatedly claiming that the government ignored his emergency injunction that was issued last month.

The administration has appealed the underlying case to the Supreme Court. In the meantime, the activist judge is weighing whether there is probable cause to move forward with contempt proceedings.

“After quite the performance, Jeb Boasberg says he believes probable cause exists to initiate contempt proceedings against Trump [administration] for disobeying his ‘oral ruling’ to return planes March 15,” Kelly wrote in an X post. “He is on a massive power trip and shocking to watch while Congress does nothing.”

Drudge report was how I discovered FR back in the day.  Now the site isn't worth the electricity running its server.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
SCOTUS has been directly appealed to, so maybe the little tinpot dictator can put a stay on himself and let it play out.

What a load of tripe.
Tripe is OK, not great. It is similar to squid. Not much muscle meat in it, it is chewy, and it takes on whatever flavor in which it is cooked. When cooked and used properly, it is similar to noodles. Just had tripe a couple of days ago.

Back on topic, Drudge Report has become similar to Huffington Post or CNN. It is now a far-Left agitprop site.

I believe it was meant as door #2, not door #1

tripe /trīp/
noun
1. The rubbery lining of the stomach of cattle or other ruminants, used as food.
2. Something of no value; rubbish.
