A federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelan migrants under the Alien Enemies Act. Chief Judge James Boasberg of the Federal District Court in Washington issued an order prohibiting the government from transferring migrants without proper hearings. Former Attorney General William P. Barr criticized nationwide injunctions like Boasberg’s order as judicial overreach.
