Yes was able to fill my tank for less than $30 the other day, haven't remembered the last time I was able to do that.

And just think, the market hasn't even absorbed this drop.  Ballparkish, expect another 5-10 cent a gallon drop.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Best use of tariffs is as a punitive or truly reciprocal manner, to get other nations to lower their trade barriers, and as the US is the prime importing nation our power with them is great, but I feel Trump's behavior on this issue and has turned much of the world, and public against them. I would have rather he slapped them on China and left it at that, by dragging Canada and others into it he has completely fumbled this issue.

I think using a tariff to protect an ailing industry is a proper use. But only as a temporary measure.

Otherwise, I would agree with you that tariffs can moderate trade - as a punitive or reciprocal matter - But as designed by the founders as a tool of Congress - Not as a tool of the Administration.

No, wait... That's not quite fair - There is room for presidential participation, but it is literally and always for 'More Cowbell', unless the Congress stands with the president. Otherwise a president's term is too short to be of any significance in trade. Even two terms is not that long in trade, due to the commitments needed to raise up manufacturing and building stock, and developing resource streams.

A president can use tariffs with effect - but it is always a very narrow window.

Definitely....   I have a few I have my eye on that if they correct another 5-8%. But I am not holding my breath

The grail for me is finding those bigger companies with long term demand and success, that will slot out at a 5% Divy, and under a 25 P/E

How about you?
Loaded up already with oils, not getting anymore even though love the div.

Never been a techie man as SW and patents are readily stolen by Chicoms.

Have about 15% in foreign stocks, will likely whittle it down to only strong ones like Nestle, GSK and Roche.   Though will jump into Toyota once it gets below $140. Only want the big fish.

Here in US, consumer is the place to go, as long as little reliance on foreign suppliers.  Likely to load up on KHC, HD and a few of the defense contractors.

Banks are a wildcard and one needs some discretion if going there.

Best to also keep considerable cash reserve on hand for the downturn coming.

Chris Plante pointed out this morning that despite the severe downward turn of the markets...the markets are still higher than they were on this date last year.

Of course...lies, damned lies and then there's "Statistics".

Depression?  give me a break this isn't the 1930's.  Did we have a depression in 08?  No.  Did we have a depression during Covid. No.

Best news of the day?  Benchmark crude is almost down to $60/bbl.  Well not exactly good news for me, but......

Wonder if the Kremlin is keeping Putin out of  multi-story buildings.  The last I looked the break even point for Russian crude is $50.

Lower gas prices means lower delivery cost of goods.  It will lower inflation.

And puts the squeeze on Putin rather than as a few want here to send our boys over there with a few trillion dollars and duke it out with him.
The Republic is lost.

Which follows Trump's goal to lower crude prices.
