Houthi rebels in Red Sea firefight with US warship 'over several hours' in huge escalation

Yemeni Armed Forces issued a statement Wednesday morning indicating that it is involved in an ongoing clash with USS Harry Truman, a United States aircraft carrier in the Red Sea.

According to the statement, the attacks are in retaliation for ongoing strikes being carried out by the U.S. in the last several weeks.
 
"The missile, UAV, and the naval forces carried out a joint military operation over the last few hours targeting enemy warships in the Red Sea, led by the US aircraft carrier Truman, from which the aggression against our country is launched," the statement read in part.

The YAF also indicated that they targeted Israeli military targets in the occupied Yafa area with a number of drones, according to the statement.

We shelled and bombed Iwo Jima for three days, and still the Japanese came out of the tunnels and caves and put up fierce resistance.

No doubt the Houthis are very well dug in (look at Hamas), and we're going to play whack-a-mole for a while. The trick is to destroy every hole they pop out of, and eventually , they will run out of holes. There are only so many sites adequate (because of terrain, geography, etc.), to harbor launch sites, and the geography that is suitable for target acquisition equipment should be limited, too. Concentrate surveillance on those and  take them out as they are found.
