America first, and foremost is the way forward.

America should trade with those nations that want a mutually beneficial bi-lateral trade relationship with benefit to both partners.
We should avoid trade with nations that view America as a market for their goods and services while putting up barriers to their markets.
There are strategic sectors that nations need to protect, within reason, for national security. But, beyond that each nation should be allowed reciprocal access to the other's markets.
A totalitarian regime that does not recognize human rights and property rights, China, should not be a nation with whom we do business.
