Schumer dismisses possible AOC primary challenge, says he's focused on bringing Trump's numbers down
Schumer said he supported a Republican spending bill because a government shutdown would be worse

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer dismissed the possibility of a primary challenge from progressive lawmaker Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in an interview following his controversial support for a Republican spending bill.

"That's a long time away," Schumer told The New York Times in an interview when asked about reports that Democratic lawmakers have privately encouraged Ocasio-Cortez to run against him for New York's U.S. Senate seat in 2028.

Ocasio-Cortez has emerged as one of the leading voices in the Democratic Party critical of Schumer for supporting the House-passed funding measure to avoid a government shutdown.

"I am focused on bringing Trump's numbers down, his popularity down, exposing what he has done to America and what he will do," Schumer said. "That's my focus right now. You know, three years from now is a long way to speculate. I believe that my hard work against Trump will pay off," he added.

That's what the Dem incumbent in AOC's district thought.

The Dem Progressives are hardcore - they won't tolerate delay for reason, logic, debate, amendment, compromise, etc.

There's no time for democracy or democratic process because everything is an existential 'crisis' or 'emergency' already in progress.  Like good Marxist revolutionaries, they use manufactured urgency (facts be damned) to incrementally advance their cause.

It's their way, yesterday, or they'll throw tempter tantrums.

Why are they upset with Schumer?  The CR was a continuation of Biden-era spending.  Best the progressives can do is stand by and let the republicans make mistakes.  But they can’t help themselves.

They wanted a Trump/GOP Government shutdown since GOP has White House, House of Reps, and US Senate.  The Dems want to besmirch their opponents leading into to the 2026 midterms.

Everything Dems do, or don't do, is to gain advantage for the 2026 midterms.  They don't care about Americans, especially those filthy, ignorant, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, America-first, knuckle-dragging, Neanderthal deplorables.

Why are they upset with Schumer?  The CR was a continuation of Biden-era spending.  Best the progressives can do is stand by and let the republicans make mistakes.  But they can’t help themselves.

She may have made herself a target. Chuckie has been in politics a long time. He knows the ropes better that she does.

Chuck the Schmuck v. the All Out Communist would be an interesting primary.

The New York Metropolitan area is where the battle would be waged.
I'm thinking that the once-powerful "Jewish vote" doesn't count for what it once did there.

Whoever wins the dem-communist primary in NY state... wins the general election.
It's gonna take one heck of a political ****storm in NY to upset that applecart...

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
