Trump Announces Military Action Against Houthi Militants In Yemen

President Trump on Saturday announced that he had authorized military strikes against Houthi militants in Yemen. The Iran-backed group has significantly hampered shipping in the Red Sea and has launched attacks on U.S. and allied vessels since the War in Gaza erupted in October 2023.

“Today, I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen. They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones,” Trump announced in a Truth Social post.

He went on to describe former President Biden’s handling of the crisis “pathetic” and vowed tougher action. Biden previously authorized limited strikes against Houthi targets in response to attacks on American shipping, though the strikes did not degrade the militant group’s capabilities.

“Joe Biden’s response was pathetically weak, so the unrestrained Houthis just kept going. It has been over a year since a U.S. flagged commercial ship safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden. The last American Warship to go through the Red Sea, four months ago, was attacked by the Houthis over a dozen times. Funded by Iran, the Houthi thugs have fired missiles at U.S. aircraft, and targeted our Troops and Allies. These relentless assaults have cost the U.S. and World Economy many BILLIONS of Dollars while, at the same time, putting innocent lives at risk,” Trump continued.

President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to a fiery Truth Social post published on Saturday.

In the post, Trump wrote that he had "ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen."

"They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones," Trump wrote.

Trump also criticized his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, writing that the Democratic president's response to the terrorist group "was pathetically weak, so the unrestrained Houthis just kept going."

"It has been over a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial ship safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden," Trump continued. "The last American Warship to go through the Red Sea, four months ago, was attacked by the Houthis over a dozen times….These relentless assaults have cost the U.S. and World Economy many BILLIONS of Dollars while, at the same time, putting innocent lives at risk."

From what I've seen the drone attacks have been coming from motherships that close to within five miles of their targets.

The Houthis are vowing retaliation after the U.S. launched a series of airstrikes on Yemen.

President Trump ordered a series of airstrikes on the Houthis, a militant group backed by Iran, on Saturday. The president said the U.S. would use an “overwhelming lethal force” to take out the group.

Nasr el-Din Amer, a spokesperson for the Houthis, told NBC News that the majority of the casualties from the airstrikes were women and children.

The group plans to retaliate and said they would not stop until the “blockade on Gaza” is lifted.

“We will respond to the recent escalation with further escalation,” he said.

I fail to understand our policy regarding terrorist nations.  First and foremost, any terrorist nation simply does not have innocents.  All are enemies, and cities should be leveled.

Trump should warn all foreigners out of Yemen.  Give them a week or two to get out, and level the largest city, and either they surrender,  or the next largest city is leveled.  There is no collateral damage.  NONE!!!!

Do to Yemen what was done to Raqqa.  The USA being weak in the Middle East contributed to October 7th.

140+ missile attacks on US Navy ships is pure acts of war.  PERIOD!!!  I say level the country until they surrender, and with that surrender agree to having no weapons of any kind.

And I say sink anything flying the Iranian flag in the Red Sea.  They are not there for scientific research.  They should be considered an enemy combatant.

I agree, a terrorist attack is an act of war.

Hamas kept a US citizen over a year and Biden did nothing to the people who did this other than instituted a shameful waste of money in building a pier that did not work to feed the enemy.

We should have joined Israel in leveling Gaza.

The U.S. military has struck more than 30 targets in Yemen since Saturday, part of the Trump administration’s new campaign of airstrikes targeting Iran-backed Houthi rebels, a terrorist group that has halted international shipping for more than a year.

The initial salvo, which began Saturday, targeted sites used to train militants, launch drones, build weapons and command operations, including some housing Houthi leadership, said Lt. Gen. Alex Grynkewich, the Joint Staff’s director for operations, in a Monday briefing.


U.S. Central Command continued strikes against the group Sunday and Monday, launching a campaign that may last weeks, officials said.

During a media interview yesterday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the U.S. military will continue to tactically engage Iranian-backed Houthis until they stop acting aggressively against U.S. ships in the region.

Hegseth also said the airstrikes were meant to draw Iran's attention.
