Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student from Virginia, vanished at the Riu Republica Resort in Punta Cana

 The search for missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki led to a new development on the beach where she vanished.

On Tuesday, two police sources told ABC News that Konanki's clothes were found on a portable beach bed close to where she disappeared.

Konanki was last seen entering the beach early Thursday morning at the five-star Riu Republica Resort in Punta Cana, according to La Policia Nacional, the country's national police force.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office in Virginia, where Konanki lives, told Fox News Digital that Konanki was on the trip with a group of six female Pitt students.

Hmmm...seems easy enough to use one of those ground penetrating radar machines to 'see' what's buried along that section of beach.

But then, why didn't the perp(s) get rid of the clothing?   Indicates her body was transported to another location?

How do you know it wasn’t a suicide on the spur of the moment, or maybe she went skinny dipping and had a bad encounter with a 🦈, rare as they are🤷🏼‍♂️

Fair enough...but the initial photo used by the news wires show her as extremely glamorous with a figure to match, so I deduced it was a lust assault by a sick pervert...seeing her walking along the beach unescorted, or with the perp himself.

Confess that I've been watching too many murder/crime movies lately.

 Missing Pitt student Sudiksha Konanki’s hometown sheriff names person of interest five days into search

Authorities in Virginia have identified a person of interest in connection to University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki’s mysterious disappearance last week in the Dominican Republic.

Iowa resident Joshua Riibe, 24, “has been interviewed at length,” Thomas Julia, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office in Loudoun County, where the missing college student is from, told Fox News Digital.

However, Riibe has not been accused of foul play in what is “still a missing person case, not a criminal case,” the sheriff’s spokesperson stressed.

“Sheriff [Michael] Chapman wants to make sure the investigation is comprehensive and includes all possible assets and techniques,” Julia said.

“We are working closely with the FBI on all of this, and they are working with the Dominican National Police.”

I thought that Riibe fellow claimed they met, spent some time chatting on the beach, then he passed out from the umpteen gallons of liquor he'd consumed, and when we awoke, she was nowhere to be found.

As people search for college student missing now in Dominican Republic, one thing to consider, Dominican Republic (like Aruba) is ranked on Tier 2 of the State Dept for human trafficking;
