House GOP Unveils ‘Clean’ Text To Fund Government While Democrats Threaten Shutdown

House Republican leadership unveiled bill text Saturday to fund the government through September and avert a partial government shutdown set to occur after midnight on March 14.

The 99-page stopgap funding bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR), will fund government operations for the remainder of the fiscal year. The government funding plan has widespread backing in the House Republican conference and is the product of close coordination with the Trump administration to ensure the government is spending less money, according to House GOP leadership staff.

House Democrats are expected to oppose the stopgap funding bill and have criticized GOP lawmakers’ refusal to insert language in the text hamstringing President Donald Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) authority to cut wasteful spending.

The bill text is “clean” and contains a minimum amount of extraneous language to fund the government through a full-year CR, according to House GOP leadership staff.

In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

A Continuing Resolution is an admission of defeat and capitulation to the Swamp.

It's FY2025.  The budget year started on October 1, 2024.

If the House is not writing budgets and legislation, there is no justification for its existence as a Consitutional institution.

If a Constitutional Organization or Office no longer serves its function, does it really need to still exist, wasting the People's time and treasury?

If the GOP Congress is not up to the task for fulfilling its Constitutional roles and responsibilities, those Republicans are not worthy of holding the Office of Representative.  Primary the budget wimps.

"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

Rand Paul's post may have been deleted. It will not at all load.

Probably because the Pubs have already been assured that the questionable expenditures that DOGE is finding won't be spent. It's the Rats that will close the govt. and all that will do is give DOGE more time to find things to cut.
We have a beach head. Now it's time to win the war and save the Republic.

We need to stop using the word "clean" to describe the feckless failure of Congress, and in particular the House, to use the power of the purse to shape government policy by not funding things.

It is still unclear why the Democrats have any say in this.  Budget matters can be passed by reconciliation, which is not subject to filibuster, and unless some of the squishes in the Senate defect to side with the 'Rats on something, a budget, yes and actual budget, should be able to be passed without a single Democrat vote in either house.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Count on the 'squishies' in the Senate defecting.  The ususals; McConnell, Murkowski, Collins. Also, by Paul's comment, I don't think he considers this a 'clean' bill and won't vote for it.  Paul is pretty much a fiscal conservative and in reading his comments, it is not a good bill.  "Hell no"!
