Missouri’s attorney general wants to know what former President Joe Biden didn’t know and for how long he didn’t know it.

In a post on X, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said he wants the Department of Justice to open up a can of worms by investigating whether Biden’s deluge of executive orders and pardons that marked the final weeks of his presidency came at a time when Biden had no idea what he was signing.
 
“I am demanding the DOJ [investigate] whether President Biden’s cognitive decline allowed unelected staff to push through radical policy without his knowing approval,” Baily posted. wrote. “If true, these executive orders, pardons, and all other actions are unconstitutional and legally void.”

Hur himself, in his report, said Biden was "a senile old man"

Various staffers around Biden said he had no clue what was going on in the final months

99% of his pardons occurred in the last 2 months ... only have to prove Biden was out of it for those 2 months, and it all gets negated!!

The majority of official documents signed by President Joe Biden allegedly used the same autopen signature, reinvigorating concerns over the former president’s mental acuity and if he "actually ordered the signature of relevant legal documents," a report published by an arm of the Heritage Foundation found.

"WHOEVER CONTROLLED THE AUTOPEN CONTROLLED THE PRESIDENCY," the Oversight Project, which is an initiative within the conservative Heritage Foundation that investigates the government to bolster transparency, posted to X on Thursday.

"We gathered every document we could find with Biden's signature over the course of his presidency. All used the same autopen signature except for the announcement that the former President was dropping out of the race last year. Here is the autopen signature," the group claimed on X, accompanied by photo examples.

Autopen signatures are ones that are automatically produced by a machine, as opposed to an authentic, handwritten signature.

That's a big hill to climb when the pardons comport with the law and they excuse convictions or prosecutions where charges have been filed.

But in the cases where pardons were issued for no known crime then they are become illegal and unconstitutional grants of blanket immunity and the President as exactly no authority to issue grants of immunity.

It depends on 'pardon' is defined.

Can someone be pardoned for someone who has not been sentenced, convicted, tried, indicted, etc., for a Federal crime?  Or, for any and all potential past acts for which he may be indicted, triedm convicted, or sentenced?

There definitely need to be a Constiutional amendment to restrict pardons to actual Federal convictions that occurred before the current President came to Office.  We can't have a lawless President in Office again who can pardon himself, his family, and his co-conspirators before charges are brought.

Trials are searches for truth.  To pre-emptively pardon someone prevents discovery of truth for potential crimes of significant public interest.

The only way to fix "the autopen problem" is with a short Constitutional amendment stating that the president must personally sign (in front of witnesses) ALL official documents (such as legislation passed by Congress, executive orders, pardons, etc.).

Autopen signing should be banned for official documents, perhaps permitted for personal documents and correspondence.

“Staffers and the Vice President cannot constitutionally evade accountability by laundering far-left orders through a man who does not know what he is signing. If in fact this has been occurring, then all those orders are void,” Bailey said.

Bailey also cited special counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s cognitive decline.

“In what was described as “the loudest public alarm about Joe Biden’s mental acuity,” Special Counsel Hur described Biden as an “elderly man with a poor memory” who could not even remember when he was Vice President or, even within several years, when his son passed away,” Bailey wrote.
