She’s attending college but can’t read or write. Now she’s suing her high school district

Aleysha Ortiz, a 19-year-old student attending the University of Connecticut, said that she can’t read or write, despite graduating from Hartford Public High School with honors. Now she is suing the school district claiming they failed to meet her special needs. CNN’s Danny Freeman reports.

If she can’t read or write how is she attending classes and doing course work? Can’t read so what does she do, get her textbooks on audio cd’s? Her reports must be a blast, maybe speech to text?

In the video she showed the reporter how she did it. She uses speech to text to write papers, and then takes pictures of texts with her phone and the phone reads it out loud to her.

It sounds to me like she is an Idiot Savant.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Was expecting to see Mayor Tiff from Dolton looking for a new grift.

Sounds like she was just lazy in school and so where  her parents and teachers. Is she going to sue her parents too? We didn’t leave it all up to the  schools when it came to our kids education, they already were reading and knew the alphabet before they went to kindergarten.

"W" was right...   No child left behind?  Better to leave half of 'em.

Even someone who would have managed to pull off the kind of feat she did would at least have some degree of curiosity as to what all those letters and words did and would be able to piece it together eventually. This reads like a textbook case of dyslexia. The learning process is there, the processing difficulty is solely in the written word.
