Well said.  I feel sorry for the ones there who work hard, and are  sweating it out.  As most of us in the private sector have gone through a plant closure, layoff, or work force reduction.

But rather than lashing out at Trump, Musk, DOGE, MAGA, that anger needs to placed at Congress, and the top 2-3 tiers of the Swamp, who allowed  the bloat to go on unabated for decades, and sadly that balloon is going to burst.

They didn't give a crap about the jobs lost when the stopped the construction of the Keystone Pipeline, or other pipelines.

Let's give them the same advice they've given us ... Learn to code.

Many years ago, before there was much of a world wide web, before there was much of publicly-available internet, there was AOL.

I remember a discussion topic someone started there just about 30 years ago (April, 1995). The title was something like "What do you do at work"?

There were some replies, and I was amazed by the number of respondents who were unable to describe exactly what they DID at work. They might offer a job title, but as to what they actually DID...?

I knew what I did, and put up a post about it. Just looked it up in my archives... it's still there.

I'll reckon that it might almost be like it was there, right HERE. How many members could describe exactly what they do, in a manner in which others reading would know just what it was...?

I could, but some of it would be a little obscure to some.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

That's my only complaint with the request. Unless a person is familiar with the task, they don't know what it entails. At my job some weeks I had only one task...but it took all week to accomplish it (gather information and produce the desired result). Other weeks I might have 20 tasks a day, but they only took a small amount of time to get the job done. Plus the fact that people can always stretch the truth about what they are doing. The blanket approach isn't always the best. It would be a hard thing to judge a person's job with such an e-mail.

Every person here I am certain want to see the budget of the federal government reduced, because it has been out of control for decades.

But I want permanent change, not something that will be upended by a judge(s) or the next Democommie that becomes POTUS.  That is why having Musk at the helm of this without folks that know a great deal about approaching this will have far less permanent outcomes than what you all expect.

I know this because I spent a lifetime doing this type of work in many industries, including being brought in to analyze government operations.

Believe me, the federal government is the wet dream of those that have been in my industry, largely destroyed when Obama became POTUS, to go and cut cost.  I know, from experience, this is not the way to produce maximum long lasting results.

You've got to start SOMEWHERE.
I reckon that's what Mr. Trump and Mr. Musk are attempting to do right now.

When was the LAST time you saw anything like this happen in DC?

Unless they are much older than you and I @Fishrrman none have ever seen anything remotely like it.

Today, Trump has the power.  But I think you would agree, he has many entities right this very moment conspiring to sink him any way they can, including first and foremost, the mainstream media, who haven't reported a single thing honestly regarding Trump for 9 years.  Some of them have been booted, but the same folks own these organizations that encouraged outright slander and libel.  That is why Trump is easily winning in the courts against these networks.

In addition to the MSM, there is Congress, where 100% of the Democommies oppose what Trump is doing, and a sufficient number of Republicans, such that, in reality, Trump does not have Congress behind him.  Only takes 3 in the House and 1 in the Senate defecting to stop any legislation.  The margins are gnat eyelash slim.

And then there are the courts, the pillars of truth and justice, many of whom would love nothing more than to see Trump fail with every step he undertakes.  And three rock solid Supreme Court Justices that would vote against Trump on anything he supports.  If any law suit regarding men in women's sports finds its way to the Supreme Court, watch these three vote in favor of men in women's sports, that is how politically wrong all three of these women are.  One of them doesn't even know what a woman is, she is not a biologist.  One of the dumbest things I have ever heard uttered by someone supposedly intelligent.

And then there is Musk.  I do not think he has a clue.  Literally!  I don't give a sh*t about what he did to a company he wholly owned.  Big whoop!  This tyranny of daily threatening every federal employee with job termination will not produce the results you think.  And as you all know, it only takes one rotten apple to spoil a barrel.  With this daily onslaught of HARRASSMENT, and that is what it is, for anyone here schooled in HR rules, nothing will come of most of this nonsense.

And you think productivity exists presently with the federal workforce?  If so, get real.  Much of the federal workforce is having daily meeting to address the latest rant from Musk.  DAILY!!!  That is the majority of 2.4 million employees + 7 million contractors.  That is 8 million manhours lost daily.  HELLO?  Anyone beginning to understand me yet?  And then there is the dramatic down turn in productivity.  I know many have been  told they are not permitted to do their job(ordered by Trump/Musk), and it has nothing to do with DEI bullsh*t or the like, but real work that impacts lives.

And to my biggest fear.  Trump has 70%+ support today, and that number could be at 30% come November, 2026.  He is not invincible.  I know the courts will not support much of what he is doing.  What most of you are failing to recognize, nothing good comes from total CHAOS, unless it is leveled against an enemy during times of war.  The federal employees are not the enemy here.  The enemy is Congress.  The enemy is the management folks that created the mess along with the thieves in Congress.

Take today.  Don't know all the particulars yet, but the USA voted against a resolution condemning Russia for the war in Ukraine.  Two weeks from now, where will Trump's popularity be then?  There are conservatives that support the defense of Ukraine against Russia.  I anticipate that support number dropping.

24 hours, 24 days, 24 weeks.  When we get to 24 weeks, watch the support tumble further.  Last thing Americans want is USA boots on the ground in Ukraine.  The longer this war lasts, the greater the probability the US and NATO march into Ukraine.  President Trump knows this, and I think is trying some creative ways to force these two leaders to sit and negotiate a peace.

Trump wants to produce results, he better get the worthless Congress off their dead *sses and produce results.  If they supported him, they would be running to keep up.  I don't even see them moving at glacier speed!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing Musk didn't care much about what was written in the response. The purpose was to get a response that wasn't automated, from an actual person, and to track where that response came from.

One of the oldest ways in the book to pad out a budget is to have 'ghost' employees who only exist on paper. The funds get shuffled back in wherever, but the people don't exist.
Look at the NOPD during Katrina, for instance. Some 50 officers were AWOL.
I think this is a fine way to smoke those out.
