Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. C.Q. Brown and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti were removed from their positions late Friday.

The Trump administration announced the reliefs in a series of messages on social media and a press statement from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Two defense officials also confirmed their removals to USNI News.

In a post on the social media network Truth Social, President Donald Trump thanked Brown for his service and announced he would nominate Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan Caine to lead the Pentagon.

“I want to thank General Charles ‘CQ’ Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post.

“I am nominating Air Force Lieutenant General Dan ‘Razin’ Caine to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Caine is an accomplished pilot, national security expert, successful entrepreneur, and a ‘warfighter’ with significant interagency and special operations experience.”

In a statement to the press after Trump’s announcement, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said he is now seeking nominations for the roles of chief of naval operations, held by Franchetti and the number two officer in the Air Force.

“The incumbents in these important roles, Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Gen. James Slife, respectively, have had distinguished careers. We thank them for their service and dedication to our country,” reads the statement.

Dan Caine, Trump’s Joint Chiefs Pick, Had Unusual Path to Top Ranks

Quote
In President Trump’s telling, Dan Caine, the retired Air Force lieutenant general whom he wants to be his next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made an impression on him when the two men first met in 2018.

The general told the president that the Islamic State was not so tough and could be defeated in a week, not two years as senior advisers predicted, Mr. Trump recounted in 2019.

And at a Conservative Political Action Conference meeting last year, Mr. Trump said that General Caine put on a Make America Great Again hat while meeting with him in Iraq. (General Caine has told aides he has never put on a MAGA hat.)

(snip)

General Caine is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, where he received a degree in economics. He later got a master’s degree in air warfare at the American Military University.

An F-16 pilot with 150 combat flight hours, General Caine’s career took him on an unusual path for a future Air Force general.

He was a White House fellow at the Agriculture Department and a counterterrorism specialist on the White House’s Homeland Security Council under President George W. Bush. He served in several highly secretive intelligence and special operations assignments, some in the United States and some overseas.

According to his military biography, General Caine was a part-time member of the Air National Guard from 2009 to 2016 and “a serial entrepreneur and investor.”

He was also an associate director for military affairs at the C.I.A. from 2021 to 2024, serving as the principal liaison to the Pentagon and working with the military on several highly classified programs and operations, former colleagues said.

(snip)

Five years later, Mr. Trump spoke about that interlude at another CPAC meeting. This time, Mr. Trump said General Caine promised that the Islamic State could be defeated in four weeks, not one.

The president also added a new detail, claiming that General Caine donned a MAGA hat, despite military guidelines that active-duty troops should not wear political paraphernalia.

“‘I love you, sir. I think you’re great, sir. I’ll kill for you, sir,’” Mr. Trump said General Caine said. “Then he puts on a Make America Great Again hat,” Mr. Trump said, laughing. “You’re not allowed to do that, but they did it.”

Van Jones: Brown Was Fired Due to ‘Slander that He’s Woke and DEI’, He Just Had Policies to Make Diverse Military ‘Cohesive’

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” CNN Political Commentator and former Obama Adviser Van Jones said that the only reason he can find to dismiss Gen. CQ Brown as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is “this slander that he’s woke and DEI. Well, if you are the head of a military that is multiracial and multicultural and you want it to be cohesive, you need to have policies in place to help that happen.”

Jones stated, “If you’re going to break with this norm and have a purge — that’s what it looks like, it’s a different country — this is a purge of the top military, you want to identify what did that General do that was inappropriate? What was the scandal? What was the bad hire? What? And there is literally nothing. I’ve been looking all day, calling around, and it’s basically just this slander that he’s woke and DEI. Well, if you are the head of a military that is multiracial and multicultural and you want it to be cohesive, you need to have policies in place to help that happen. If there are good policies or there are bad policies, you could — but just the fact that he — apparently, his only crime to have this level of a break with 200 years of tradition is that he’s ‘woke.’ That’s very scary, because what that means is this could be a pretext, and it could be that Trump just wants to put generals in place that will do what he says, right or wrong, and not do…the hard right and not the easy wrong.”

Trump's Firing of Top General Sparked a Total Meltdown on the Left
Matt Vespa

You knew this was going to happen: the Left melted down last night over the firing of Gen. Charles Brown, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Brown was pro-DEI—there was no way he was staying in his soon-to-be-former post. It’s also not shocking; Brown was reportedly already on a list of officers who would be shown the door.

Get over it. Of course, some Democrats think this weakened national security. However, they should shut up for at least a generation for leaving the southern border wide open for illegal aliens and infiltrations by terrorist groups, among many other things. They have no message, so all they can do is whine about Trump making elite decisions to get our nation back on track.

This mainlining of hyperbole remains CNN’s business model. It’s also led to a mass exodus of people from the legacy media, opting to find other sources of news and information since the establishment press is overly biased and inaccurate. Trump played a prominent role in shredding the credibility of the media, though at a significant personal cost. Oh, and you knew someone was going to say Trump fired Brown because he was black. He nominated Air Force Lieutenant General Dan “Razin” Caine to replace Brown, and he’s eminently qualified, though you’d think the general was some kid Trump picked up from the WaWa parking lot:

Trump's Radical Choice for Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Could Rattle the Military Establishment
streiff
6–7 minutes

Friday evening, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth began the process of reshaping the corps of general and flag officers who command and, on odd Tuesdays, even attempt to lead our Armed Forces. The first tranche of firings carried away the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General CQ Brown Jr., Chief of Naval Operation Admiral Lisa Franchetti, and the Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General James Slife; see You're Fired: Trump Cans Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Presumably Over Emphasis on DEI – RedState. The Judge Advocates General of the Army, Navy, and Air Force were surprising additions. They are Army Lieutenant General Joseph B. Berger III, Navy Rear Admiral Lia M. Reynolds, and Air Force Lieutenant General Charles L. Plummer.

No one thinks this is the end of it, but a total decapitation strike would be a bad look, particularly to a Congress that is already getting a bad case of fecal incontinence because they are seeing program cuts being made on principle, not on the politics of how many jobs are in each congressional district.

There are a couple of surprising things in the unfolding drama. I think everyone had expected CQ Brown and Franchetti to be fired. They were two of the most highly visible proponents of the DEI culture Obama and Biden attempted to implant in the military. Brown, in fact, could be mistaken for a stone-cold racist in the right lighting. Here is the infamous memo where he signs on to limiting the percentage of White pilots in the Air Force.

In recent days, though, it began to look like Brown might dodge the bullet.

Brown was ousted despite support among key members of Congress and a seemingly positive meeting with Trump in mid-December, when the two sat next to each other for a while at the Army-Navy football game. Brown had been meeting regularly with Hegseth at the Pentagon.

LTG Slife was an alumnus of the USAF Special Operations community, but he was widely loathed, at least on social media, by USAF personnel and veterans. He was also the Air Force's most prominent voice bleating about "institutional racism" during the George Floyd celebratory rioting. The Federalist has all the details in Biden Nominee Claimed 'Institutional Racism' Affects The Military.

So, he essentially demands there be "two worlds" that people are to be prepared for. One for people with dark skin and another for the others.

He has no intention of simply being one with the nation.

Good riddance.

Can’t wait for the all of the MAGA Black folks at the White House yesterday to comment on how Donald Trump fired a Black 4-star general as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and has named less qualified white man. I’ll wait.

Less qualified?
- black mold in barracks
- DFAC's not feeding troops on a 4 day stretch
-vehicle OR less than 90%
-recruiting and retention goals failed, 3 years span
- Pentagon failed 7th audit in a row, can't account for Billions of dollars
- General literally blaming it all on discipline
How f***ing retarded are you?
