On Russian state television, Mikheyev said about the U.S.'s shifting stance towards Russia and Ukraine, "It's certainly clear that what's happening is good news. It's drastically different from all we've seen before," according to a video translated by journalist Julia Davis.

He then referenced the Trump administration's stance on U.S. forces and NATO's Article 5, noting Hegseth's claim that U.S. troops would not be involved in a conflict with Russia, saying, "We should make this thought clear for the Europeans, now we can actually strike Brussels, London and Paris...We can forget about Article 5 and forget about Americans stepping up to help."

Article 5 provides that if a NATO ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the ally attacked.

Belgium, the United Kingdom, and France are all NATO countries....

Neville Chamberlain Trump?

Putin must be laughing at the way he and all his talking-points are being given legitimacy.

We saw what happened the last time a European dictator was appeased - war with a year.

Not looking good right now.

Putin can't squash Ukraine. He's crazy if he takes on Europe even without the USA.

And if Trump gives Ukraine to Russia he will give Congress to the Democrats.

Did Putin hire Bagdad Bob for his new press secretary?
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Eight NATO countries can now strike Moscow..

Didn’t Putin/Russia already have the ability to strike those capitals?

Pay attention to Mikheyev's words:

"It's certainly clear that what's happening is good news. It's drastically different from all we've seen before,  .  .  .

"If you compare the rhetoric of Trump's team with Biden's rhetoric, it's worlds apart, .  .  .  Now, there is no isolation, even from the American side."

His aim here is to drive a wedge between Europe and the US, pitting them against each other.  (Note the capitals named are not the ones closer to Russia - Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm - but are the ones where NATO power resides.)  No different than what Stalin did between FDR and Churchill.  I'm really holding out hope that Trump is baiting Putin, only to drop the hammer down later, fully unifying all of NATO against Soviet (yes, Soviet) aggression.

Let's see where the price of oil and gas is four weeks from now.  Let's see if Russian losses continue at their current pace.  And let's see if Ukrainian innovation (and Atesh) is able to wreak even more damage to Russian economic infrastructure throughout the rest of the country.
