Refinery Fire Sends California Gas Prices Soaring to Nearly $5 per Gallon

Joel B. Pollak 16 Feb 2025

Gas prices are soaring in California — again — thanks to a refinery fire that has choked supply, sending average prices to $5 per gallon, and even higher in the northern regions of the state.

Los Angeles’ KTLA-5 reported:

The average price of gas in California has skyrocketed in recent weeks, and is flirting with the dreaded $5 mark.

According to AAA, the average price of regular gas in California was $4.84 on Saturday. That number was up about 25 cents from last Saturday and 44 cents from one month ago.

The 44 cent rise in one month comes as refineries begin their transition to summer blends of fuel, AAA said. Other causes could be do to a major refinery being offline in Northern California and routine matinence [sic].

Is it reduced refinery capacity season in California already? Maintenance shut downs, fire damage shut downs, all just normal in California. Of course our Gaia worshipping, proletariat hating goobernator, greaseball Noisome would never think of putting a hold on special blends of gas so that the shortage could be made up easier and save Californians money.

Seems Gruesome has come up with another way to urge people to go electric vehicles as the supply of gasoline dries up

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

Nothing new about it, and all Noisome has to do is have his co communists in the legislature add on another tax/fee for infrastructure to raise the price of gas.

Weren't CA gas prices over $8 not too long ago? Was that due to a refinery fire, too?

Shell sold off this refinery five years ago.

Explosion causes massive fire at troubled Martinez refinery

Contra Costa Health called off a shelter-in-place order around 9 p.m. Saturday night after billowing black smoke inundated cities surrounding the refinery

Yep, Shell got tired of California polices that made them lose money.

Once again, the state is to blame by turning operatorship of a refinery by a world-class company to one of less experience in PBF Energy Inc.

BTW, the B in that name is Blackstone, which owns part of the company.
