Michigan Democrat Says She ‘Opted for Voluntary Sterilization’ Because of Trump Presidency

A Democrat Michigan state representative announced on Wednesday that she underwent sterilization earlier this year to avoid pregnancy under the Trump administration, Michigan Advance reported.

“Just under two weeks ago, I underwent surgery to ensure that I would never have to navigate a pregnancy in Donald Trump’s America,” said state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia), who is openly bisexual. “I refuse to let my body be treated as currency by an administration that only sees value in my ability to procreate.”

“If you know people who are questioning how serious this is, I’m going to repeat myself: A sitting government official opted for voluntary sterilization because she was uncertain she would be able to access contraception in the future,” she added.

She has a right to speak, she has a right to hold protests and resent Trump.  For her to opt for sterlization is her business.  To do so and blame it on President Trump indicates to me that there is something seriously wrong with her psychologically and she needs help.

If she's so worried about avoiding pregnancy she needs to become celibate...if she can't afford contraception ... again ... not being sexually active absolutely guarantees she won't get pregnant.  These are HER choices and blaming it on someone else is taking the easy way out!

It's always easier to blame someone else then to accept responsibility.  Responsibility is a word that many liberals, and youth seem to not comprehend.

In the end, sterilization of the insane is not a first.  Sterilization of the insane has occurred in the past.  These are people suffering mental illness, and not willing to identify they have a serious mental problem.  Society does benefit by their deciding not to reproduce.

And usually, people with serious mental issues cannot take care of themselves properly let alone raising one or more children.
