Bondi, meanwhile, warned the leaders of other progressive sanctuary cities that “you will be next.”
Like Portland, Oregon, it's safe to say ...

More context for folks, I don't think some in Portland media and government get the scope yet. In 2020 Portland was on a short list of cities to pull federal funding due to the 180 days of rioting. The total amount of federal dollars coming to Portland was $252 million in 2019, for one fiscal year. That's pre-mega inflationary times. City of Portland is currently facing a $100 million dollar deficit for 2025 which has federal dollars already baked into that budget, which would be on the table for removal. Oh and by the way about 1200 city union workers this week are looking to strike because their average salary of $150k per year while working remotely isn't enough money

But Portland's mayor remains defiant:Mayor Keith Wilson
@MayorKWilson
As a sanctuary city, we are focused on making Portland a safe, welcoming place for all community members. We object to the federal government attempting to defund public safety, infrastructure and other critical services in our city. Portland is obligated to uphold both state laws and our values, and we are prepared to make that case in court.

City of Portland, OR
@PortlandGov
Today, Portland joins a coalition of local governments who are suing the presidential administration for executive orders and actions that harm cities and states with sanctuary policies.
“As a sanctuary city, we are focused on making Portland a safe, welcoming place for all community members,” @MayorKWilson said. “We object to the federal government attempting to defund public safety, infrastructure and other critical services in our city. Portland is obligated to upholding both state laws and our values, and we are prepared to make that case in court.”
The lawsuit, which will be filed today, alleges that recent executive orders and administrative actions illegally harm cities and states with sanctuary policies related to immigration enforcement.
