The honest story about climate change
Part 2: With a new course towards a hopeful future.

In the first part of this diptych, it was argued that there is no climate crisis and that politicians, climate researchers and journalists should stop sowing fear among the population and citing flawed climate models. In this second part, emeritus professors Guus Berkhout and Kees de Lange argue in favour of working together on the opportunities offered by climate change. This means a completely different approach to climate policy and the energy transition.

It is time that we no longer accept that more and more unelected international organizations force us to organize our lives in our own country. And above all, it is high time that we eradicate the fear stories and the coercive measures of those organizations root and branch. This is only possible with a strong national democracy! A new cabinet must set a new course with courage and expertise. The result is prosperity for everyone. Such a new course starts with a meaningful climate policy.

Get rid of climate anxiety
Enough about all those bad scare stories and all those nonsensical net-zero billions. We are now going to talk about the positive future perspective. The graph on the right in illustration 4 was published in 2020 by the well-known Danish environmental economist Bjørn Lomborg. It shows – without complicated models – at a glance why the climate scare stories are misplaced. It turns out that investing in adaptation measures is extremely rewarding!
