Nebraska moves to ban lab-grown meat, joins growing push against fake food
01/26/2025 // Cassie B. // 950 Views

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen proposes banning lab-grown meat production and sale to protect the state’s farmers and ranchers.

The ban, part of a national backlash, follows similar actions in Florida and Alabama, with ten other states requiring clear labeling.

Critics highlight potential health risks and the unnatural production process of lab-grown meat, which involves chemicals and growth hormones.

The movement opposes globalist agendas and billionaire-funded initiatives, such as those promoted by the World Economic Forum.

The push aims to reclaim control of the food supply, prioritizing traditional agriculture and natural food over synthetic alternatives.

That great American, Bill Gates, must be very, very disappointed.  Gates is now the largest holder of arable land in what only liberals would suggest to make it available, through leasing, for growing vegetables to make lab grown meat.  What a guy!

Don't worry, our future may still be Soylent.

"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
What makes me laugh is that I'm willing to bet that it takes a great deal more inputs to make fake meat than it does to put a cow out to pasture, finish it off with a little corn, and take it to market.

you’ll never make believe that with all the chemicals, additives and artificial flavorings it takes to make that vegetation resemble real meat that it is in any way healthier than real meat, or for that matter healthy.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

This stuff isn't even the "plant based*" alternative, it's stem cells grown in some soup of chemicals to make "lab grown meat". God only knows what goes into that brew, but that is what ends up in the stuff they are trying to sell as "meat". Anything that isn't part of a critter has to be clearly labeled in this State (ND) and I'd be happier yet to see a complete ban.

(*As if a cow converting the hay growing in a pasture-or grain used in 'finishing'- to beef isn't "plant based".)

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

FL has a ban on lab grown meat.

I would like to see a federal ban.  I would think if RFK Jr., is confirmed, he'll be banning fake meat.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

I'd like to see one in each State, too, just to add another layer. A federal ban could be overturned all in one place. If the States have them, too, then there are 51 places to fight the ban, and that makes it more likely to stay in effect.

Whoops, had my head in the wrong place, not surprising it’s been there for the last seven months. Lab grown meat makes me think of the Eureka episode with lab grown chicken that had a side effect of making the people who ate it stupid. I think I will stick with the food God created for us, at least when it comes to meat, fowl and fish. Who never got the heebee jeebees from imitation crab meat?

And all the rest of it too - If you have not experienced farm fresh eggs and veggies grown in the yard and canned/fermented at home, you really are missing out. The food is SO much better! So much more flavor. So much more health.

As a young lad, even growing up in greater Chicagoland, Mamma always had a garden. Most of the houses down the block had a garden. And there were truck wagons on the street corners, here and there, where farmers would haul their stuff into town early in the morning to sell directly to the neighborhood. REAL food, grown locally.

All that is gone now. Even out here in Montana. Sure the farms and ranches still grow their own, and there are still some gardens in town, but mostly, all the McMansions going up around here are just cultured lawns, not growing a damn thing. *SMH*... That's just... wrong.

I agree. I still garden, and haven't planted a tree that wasn't a fruit tree.
While the squirrels and birds tend to strip the fruit trees clean (except the apple and the wild plum), at least those trees are 'working for a living' and not the barren ornaments in other yards.

Have you ever thought to yourself that making fake lab grown human breast milk would be a good idea?
Well, seems like Bill Gates has.

According to my study, 4 out of 5 infants prefer fresh mothers milk, expressed, or direct from the tap.
