Renaming Dulles International Airport: A Much-Needed Correction

One of the nation’s busiest airports was named after Allen Dulles, the longest-serving Director of Central Intelligence. However, on Jan 23, Representative Addison McDowell, a Republican from North Carolina, introduced H.R. 691, a bill to re-designate Washington Dulles International Airport as “Donald J. Trump International Airport.”

A similar bill was introduced in March of last year by Representative Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA), but with Biden in office and Democrats running the Senate, the bill didn’t go anywhere.

Why the change is a good idea

Why is this change a good idea? Because every landmark exists to help us honor someone or some event. I say it’s time our country stopped paying homage to a man who didn’t exactly exude loyalty to America.

Yes, Allen Dulles served as CIA Director from 1953 to 1961, but history buffs will readily admit that Dulles’ actions were both controversial and damaging. His ego led him to betray American ideals, and many actions he took directly undermined global stability.

Correct. J. F. Dulles is described as "a significant figure in the early Cold War era, who advocated an aggressive stance against communism throughout the world" in Wikipedia.
The abnormal is not the normal just because it is prevalent.
