The start of the Trump administration’s mass deportation program has been a shock to the system of major sanctuary cities, where even news outlets are going out of their way to advertise how illegal immigrants can avoid being deported.

ABC7 in Chicago is taking heavy fire online after a Tuesday night broadcast where field reporter Michelle Gallardo spoke with Hispanic community activists who were given airtime to advise illegal immigrants to not open their doors for U.S. Customs and Immigration officers if they come knocking. The coverage drew a swift rebuke as commentators accused the ABC affiliate of aiding and abetting criminal behavior.

“Chicago’s immigrant community is on edge tonight as Michelle Gallardo reports, activists and elected officials are canvassing neighborhoods, letting people know their rights should ICE come knocking – don’t open for ICE,” news anchor Cheryl Burton said before cutting to Gallardo.

The field reporter then played interviews and b-roll where she spoke with local business owners who had plastered their establishments with posters stating “don’t open for ICE,” thereby preventing them from accidentally giving immigration authorities permission to enter their homes and conduct a search.

The Daily Mail spotlighted some of the most outraged reactions by social media users.

The Fourth Amendment applies to everyone. As it should. If ICE knows of a specific alien at a specific address then they need an arrest warrant and a search warrant.

True enough. If they have treason to believe there are illegals there, they have probable cause. But getting a Judge to sign off, or someone to not leak the raid details would be tough.

It seems to me this might be cause to pull their operating license. Helping criminals to continue in criminal behavior doesn't sound like a public interest to me and they are using public air waves.

The Constitution doesn't discriminate. That said, I would support an Amendment that clarifies and says that non-citizens are not protected by the Bill of Rights or any subsequent rights reserved by the people or the states.

I didn't learn this until recently.

If you are in the country illegally and ICE arrests you there is an automatic ban of 20 years to ever return. If these people want to be here it's going to be a lot better for them to self deport now and apply legally from their home country.

They can try to avoid ICE all they want, but the odds are against them. Any law enforcement officer that interacts with them can arrest them and turn them over to ICE. The end is coming.

These ICE guys are pretty darn tough. Pulling a gun on them is just going to get you killed.

If these illegal aliens are so tough they start pulling guns out they are going to find out American will respond with overwhelming force.

If they get caught at the border, before they are returned to Mexico, or in the case of previous admn.'s released, they are fingerprinted. If they are detained by law enforcement their fingerprints are checked. At that point, law enforcement knows and any asylum claims are void.

Actually, coffins or to save shipping costs, boxes of ashes are easier to deport than living illegals. Also dead illegals don’t return.
