DENVER — The family of a pregnant woman whom police in Arvada, Colorado, shot and killed after they mistook her for a shoplifter has reached a $2 million settlement with the city, officials said Tuesday.

Destinee Thompson, a mother of three from Denver, was killed on Aug. 17, 2021, as she tried to drive away from officers who had surrounded her car as she was leaving an Arvada motel.

These geniuses shot and killed the woman just because she was there. 

Proof that every encounter with pit bulls and cops can suddenly turn into a deadly confrontation regardless if you're not doing anything wrong.

Maybe she shouldn't have tried to drive away? I've had pitts and have lots of cop friends. Never had a problem with either.

Of course there are good and bad outcomes with either, but I don't find that to be the norm. I am assuming you don't call the police if you need them.

Plainclothes thugs with guns busting in her windows at night in a bad neighborhood and she's not supposed to try to get away?

Maybe I misread, but it doesn't state that they were plain clothes. Nor did it state it was a bad neighborhood.

No doubt. But for the most part, the police do a good job. And I'll ask again...do you call LEO when you are in the need?

Since moving to Wyoming we've called the sheriff's department three times:

1. To remove armed California Franchise Tax Board agents from our property.
2. To stop Park Rangers from rustling our bison.
3. Because the rangers came back a second time.

In short we called the cops on other cops.

I like our sheriff's department but I'm just not a fan of modern policing. Too many of them are gang members, too many are mental, most of them hold the Constitution in blatant contempt, and too many of them like to attack and kill people.

The so-called good ones are notoriously and consistently silent about the bad ones.
