“My only regret about my electric car”, writes the man on the forum, “is that I didn’t buy it sooner”. Zing. The EV evangelist scores another win over the Neanderthals who dare to suggest there may be some teething problems with Britain’s rapid shift away from internal combustion engines.
 
The first mistake these zealots make is to think that anyone who points out the many flaws in the charging network or, heaven forbid, opines that the components used in making electric cars are not exactly squeaky green, are some kind of deranged climate change denier.

Many people would agree these cars are far preferable to a face full of noxious exhaust fumes. Whether or not overall – once you consider the environmental impact of those materials needed for batteries – EVs are actually greener is certainly not something I’m qualified to judge.

My only regret about your electric car is that you forced me (at the point of a gun) to pay a good chunk of the cost.

Truth is an UGLY thing for government pukes.

I say end the taxpayer subsidizing of EVs and let's see if they can stand on their own in a competitive market.   Bottom line, the majority of folks leasing these vehicles are higher income folks, and there is virtually no secondary market, for when they come off lease they are shipped to another country and sold LIKE NEW.

Can you imagine California continuing on the track they are on?  Ten years from now when they outlaw combustion engines, and there is no secondary market EVs, how do the majority of people who cannot afford an EV get a vehicle?  California ends up creating a two tier society, those that can afford transportation, and those restricted to public transportation, or cars that look the same as if you were in Cuba, combustion cars that are 25+ years old.  That will not work.

California is so mindless!  And the other 8-10 states that follow their lead.

IMO, republicans should pass a law to make it illegal for the government to require the public purchase or own anything.  That would force lawmakers to get off their dead asses and CONVINCE voters of the worthiness of making a purchase.  Otherwise, we will have types of homes required, everything to furnish it required, water meters required, etc., etc.  In other words, get the government out of our lives before it totally controls them. :pondering:

I would say the government does in fact control just about every facet of life in this nation.  And they tax it, over and over again, taking your assets and claiming it as their own.

Nothing irks me more than estate taxes.  Every branch of government has taxed it, you die, and they steal a rather huge chunk of what you built for your family.  Just wrong.

I SAY END ESTATE TAXES, END INCOME TAXES AND MOVE TO A CONSUMPTION TAX.  THAT WAY, THE 57% OF AMERICA THAT DOES NOT PAY A DIME IN TAXES NOW PAYS THEIR FAIR SHARE.

Nothing irks me more than seeing someone on welfare with a $1,300 cell phone, clothes that cost hundreds if not thousands per item, etc.  My wife knows a woman on Obamacare with an income equal to hers, she pays no taxes, drives a new BMW, lives in a $800,000 home with furniture that cost an arm and a leg.  This woman's income is almost exclusively cash, and she pays nothing in taxes.  Not right!!!

How many criminals are driving $100,000+ cars and pay no taxes?  Too many!!!!!

What I am particularly interested in is the dissolution of the onerous tax agencies creatures, both public and private, that feed on the insanely complicated federal tax code, adding huge costs to everything we purchase.

When I lived in the UK my income taxes forms comprise a single sheet of paper as deductions did not exist. If we do not eliminate income tax entirely, at least make it flat and simple
