President-elect Donald Trump, set to begin his second term on Monday, reportedly plans to suspend the security clearances of the 51 former intelligence officials who signed a letter suggesting the Hunter Biden laptop story was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. The decision was first reported by Fox News and is part of Trump’s broader efforts to implement reform within the federal intelligence agencies.

In October 2020, the officials released a statement asserting that the New York Post's reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop had "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation." The letter, which did not provide new evidence, claimed their experience in national security led them to be “deeply suspicious” of Russia’s alleged involvement in the matter.

After this letter, no evidence came to light proving the claims that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation. However, due to the warnings by intelligence officials at the time, social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook suppressed the story leading up to the 2020 election.

Four years overdue, but of course LIEden wouldn't bite the hands that helped feed him the WH. But did they commit a crime? Maybe an unreported in-kind campaign contribution? AFAIK, signing a falsehood-filled letter sent to the skews media is not a crime.

I'm not  sure if he had the authority to grant security clearances for an extended period of time; IIRC I believe they have to be renewed.

Yes, dangerous times.  I am rather elated right now that the swearing in ceremony was held without interruption.

Trump hopefully will be issued a new security team and I believe that Bongino is playing a part in that.

I would think that for most of these individuals, getting one's security clearance revoked is something akin to being demoted to janitor. Heck, I'll reckon that in some of the places they work, even the janitors have substantial "clearances"...

It was done for political reasons, a violation of the Hatch Act.
