JESSICA TARLOV: 11 Biden accomplishments we can't ignore as Trump takes office
The minimization of what Joe Biden's done for this country wildly betrays the reality of his legacy

This week, I hopped on the train and headed down to D.C. to cover President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

I’m excited. It’s my first inauguration and although my candidate of choice isn’t being sworn in, I understand the gravity of the moment. If something has only happened 47 times in history, it’s a big deal! It’s an honor to be part of it, no matter your politics.

That said, while we are in the midst of welcoming Donald Trump back to the White House, it’s important to not lose sight of all that has been accomplished during the Biden-Harris administration. Here are 11 things on my list. And yes, I know his approval rating is at an all-time low and that the American people chose a different direction. But that doesn’t change the facts on the ground. History will be far kinder to Joe Biden than you think.

For starters, President Biden just announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. The deal is based on Biden’s three phase proposal that begins with the return of the 33 Israeli and American hostages and ends with a reconstruction plan for Gaza. Did Trump and his Israel envoy have an impact? For sure. But this was done on Biden’s watch and with his negotiators.

4. One of the greatest areas of achievement was addressing health care costs for Americans. Through the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare the cost of insulin is capped at $35 for millions of seniors.

As insulin shortages persist, what diabetes patients can do

Some diabetes patients this year have had trouble finding their preferred insulin brands as major drug manufacturers reported shortages of the medicine. USA TODAY set out to find out what patients can do.

Advocates for diabetes patients who need insulin to survive worry the nation's supply has become unreliable. Certain brands of insulin have been periodically in shortage since late 2023. The shortages caught the attention of patient advocates and members of Congress who have demanded answers from the nation's three dominant insulin makers.  .  .  .

Shortages caused by price-ceilings imposed by the Biden regime.

5. Is it infrastructure week yet? It certainly was! Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure deal will revolutionize America’s roads and bridges. High speed rail won’t be a pipedream anymore. Broadband for everyone, even rural Americans. Ports and waterways will get the attention they’ve needed for decades and our cybersecurity will get the upgrades it so desperately needs.

This bill was the greatest boondoggle ever perpetrated upon the American people.  $1.2 trillion in debt added to the tally.  $1.2 trillion in inflationary dollars created out of thin air.  And absolutely nothing to show for it.

- $7.5 billion for EV charging stations.  Where are they?
- $65 billion for broadband access.  Not a single person connected.
- $8 billion for water projects to address Western drought.  Not a single cubic foot of water added to reservoir supply.
- $66 billion for passenger rail projects.  Amtrak continues to cut back on services.  High speed rail construction is at a standstill.
- $73 billion to overhaul an energy policy that isn't broken.

And so on.  And this is being trumpeted as one of Biden's accomplishments?  If you're wondering why your dollars no longer go as far as they did four years ago, it is because of bills such as this. $1.2 trillion.  Let that sink in.  And it wasn't "bipartisan" either.  Not a single Republican voted for this.  Not a single one.

So, in the same vein one of Newsom's great accomplishments was limiting the cost of house/fire insurance...

And has had similar results... Massive shortages... Imagine that...
