Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, is facing a relentless smear campaign that ranges from the petty to the absurd. Chief among these efforts are allegations from a disgruntled former employee of Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), where Hegseth served as CEO—claims that lack credibility and have resurfaced years after her brief tenure.

Meanwhile, critics have seized on other manufactured controversies, including Hegseth’s Christian tattoo, which has been assailed as extremist. This attack on his faith—and on traditional Christian imagery—reveals a deep hypocrisy, as such scrutiny would never be applied to other religious traditions. But these efforts to discredit Hegseth obscure the larger issue: his qualifications and commitment to reform, which make him the right choice to lead the Pentagon.

I am not that familiar with Hegseth and in listening to the hearing and his stance, he's going to be a tough nomination to get through.  He wants the military to get back to the basics; not wokeness and leftists' agendas. 

Certainly his Christian values, loyalty to Trump and anti-LGBTQ stance is going to IMHO unfortunately sink him.  I hope I am wrong because so far from what I've heard from him and quickly looking at his military record, he would be perfect for Sec Def.

The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing for Pete Hegseth’s defense secretary nomination on Tuesday, and as expected, Democrats tried to turn it into a high-wire circus.  ...

Sen. Tim Kaine. D-Va. — Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate — tried to perform a disgraceful morality stunt about the sanctity of marriage, while Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., huffed about “qualifications” and posed failed “gotcha” questions. And who could ignore the screeching, despicable tirades from the committee’s female Democrat senators, many of whom proudly displayed their unhinged obsessions with sending women into combat? ...

Democrats’ antics are an outward display of their opposition to an outsider running the Pentagon (or any government agency, for that matter). It doesn’t matter if Hegseth’s confirmation produces a more efficient force and victories in war. What matters most to them is protecting the status quo, and they will say or do anything to do just that.
