Let's set the minimum wage to whatever Bernie Sanders is making.
Let's set it to the real minimum wage, ZERO, because if we raise it to high, the job will be eliminated.

Trump DHS pick Noem pledges to end controversial app used by migrants on 'day one’

Kristi Noem, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Homeland Security, told lawmakers that she will end the controversial CBP One app, and a related migrant parole program that has allowed nearly 1.5 million immigrants into the US.

"Yes, Senator, if confirmed and I have the opportunity to be secretary, on day one CBP One will be shut down," Noem told Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., at her confirmation hearing before the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Noem was first asked by Hawley if the southern border was secure.

"Senator, no, the southern border is not secure today. But in just three days, we will have a new president in this country, President Donald J. Trump. And he will secure our border," she said.

She was then asked about the use of the CBP One app, which allows immigrants to be paroled into the U.S. The app was created during the first Trump administration to assist with scheduling cargo inspections. However, it was controversially expanded in 2023 to allow migrants to make an appointment at a port of entry to be allowed in, initially due to an exception from the Title 42 public health order and then, since May, to be paroled into the U.S. as part of the Biden administration’s expansion of "lawful pathways." ..................

..........Noem said she would end CBP One on the first day in office, although the agency will keep some information.

"There's data and information in there that we will preserve so that we can ensure we know who's coming into this country and who's already here, that we need to go find," she clarified.

She then pointed to CHNV, "where our federal government actually paid to fly people into this country directly from other countries without any vetting or knowing who they are."

"So there's several of these programs that need to be eliminated, and we need to ensure that we're following legal immigration laws," she said..............

Tulsi Gabbard Confirmation Hearing Scheduled for January 30 After Slow-Walk from Senate Dems, FBI

Elizabeth Weibel 23 Jan 2025

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s (R-HI) confirmation hearing to serve as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) has been scheduled for Thursday, January 30, after being slow-walked by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Senate Democrats.

Sources familiar with the matter confirmed to Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle that Gabbard’s confirmation was scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. next Thursday, a week from today.

Senate sources had previously told Breitbart News that “the FBI’s background check of Gabbard” was “taking close to the maximum amount of time the FBI has had to conduct it.”

Senate sources familiar with the matter told Breitbart News on Monday that the FBI’s background check of Gabbard is taking close to the maximum amount of time the FBI has had to conduct it and is expected back to the Senate Intelligence Committee sometime in the next 24 to 48 hours. As soon as the FBI background check documents are filed with the committee, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR)—who chairs the Intelligence Committee—is expected to formally file a notice to schedule Gabbard’s confirmation hearing.

That’s where Senate Democrats come in. If they do not agree to expedite Gabbard’s hearing—Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) is the main player here, as he is the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee—then the committee under its rules needs to notice the hearing a full seven days later from the notice when it’s filed. That means Gabbard’s confirmation hearing could drag into next week, and her full confirmation before the Senate could drag into February depending on how ridiculous Democrats get with this whole process.

Schumer supports Democrats delaying all Trump nominees who lack unanimous support
Schumer says he has concerns with some of Trump's nominees, including John Ratcliffe, Pete Hegseth
By Aishah Hasnie , Chris Pandolfo Fox News
Published January 23, 2025 3:07pm EST

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he supports the delay of all of President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees who do not have unanimous support in the Senate.

Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., filed cloture on John Ratcliffe's nomination for CIA director, Kristi Noem's nomination for Homeland Security secretary and Pete Hegseth's nomination for defense secretary on Tuesday. But a last-minute objection from Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., held up a vote on Ratcliffe, triggering hours of debate that could delay confirmation votes on Trump's national security nominees late into the week and possibly into the weekend.

"I don't think it's too much to ask to make sure that we have a full, real debate that lasts two days on the Senate floor," Murphy said on the Senate floor, adding that Democrats have "serious concerns" about Trump's CIA pick.

The Senate voted to confirm Ratcliffe, 74-25, on Thursday afternoon.

CBS News Airs Lies About DNI Nominee Tulsi Gabbard

Kristina Wong 24 Jan 2025

CBS News perpetuated multiple lies about Director of National Intelligence (DNI) nominee Tulsi Gabbard during a live broadcast on Inauguration Day, as she continues to seek support ahead of a confirmation vote by the Senate.

During the broadcast, a graphic read, “Tulsi made secret visit to Syria.”

Gabbard did not make a “secret” visit to Syria, according to a spokeswoman, who said the trip was confidential for safety reasons.

“The area was crawling with al-Qaeda and ISIS and she could have easily have been kidnapped or killed if these terrorist groups knew she was coming,” said Alexa Henning, a Gabbard spokeswoman.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) herself had planned to go on an undisclosed trip to Afghanistan in 2019, but canceled at the last minute, claiming Trump had “leaked” the existence of her trip to the public.

Date set for Robert F Kennedy Jr's Health secretary confirmation hearings
President Donald Trump's HHS pick will sit before 2 committees – on finance and health – next week
By Alec Schemmel Fox News
Published January 24, 2025 11:11am EST

The Senate committees on health and finance have announced the upcoming hearing dates for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s bid to be the next secretary of Health and Human Services.

The Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary nominee will participate in hearings with two committees, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) and the Senate Committee on Finance. The first hearing will occur next week, on Wednesday, in front of the Senate finance committee, which oversees HHS. The Senate's chief committee covering issues tied to health and healthcare, the HELP committee, will probe Kennedy the following day, on Thursday.

Kennedy's nomination could face opposition, even from Republicans. In particular, Kennedy's views and past statements about vaccines have been scrutinized by both GOP and Democratic lawmakers. Additionally, GOP lawmakers have been concerned about Kennedy's pro-abortion views that he has espoused in the past and his potential impact on the agriculture sector.
