Supreme Court denies Trump attempt to stop sentencing in New York v. Trump
Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Jan. 20

The United States Supreme Court has denied President-elect Trump's petition to block his Friday sentencing in New York v. Trump.

Trump filed an emergency petition to the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday in an effort to prevent his Jan. 10 sentencing, scheduled by Judge Juan Merchan, from taking place.

The high court on Thursday night said "the burden that sentencing will impose on the President-Elect’s responsibilities is relatively insubstantial in light of the trial court’s stated intent to impose a sentence of ‘unconditional discharge’ after a brief virtual hearing."

Now, sentencing in New York v. Trump can move forward, with the president-elect expected to appear virtually for the proceeding, scheduled for 9:30 am Friday.

Merchan set Trump's sentencing in New York v. Trump for Jan. 10 after a jury found the now-president-elect guilty of falsifying business records in the first degree, stemming from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges and has appealed the ruling but was rejected last week by Merchan.

Damnit!

Four of the court’s conservatives dissented: Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joined with the court’s three liberals to deny Trump’s request.

When a jury convicted him on 34 felonies in May, the proceeding was originally set for July. After the Supreme Court’s ruling carving out immunity for former presidents, however, Trump began receiving multiple delays, eventually pushing the proceeding until after the election.

Once his political victory was secured, Trump re-upped his efforts and began advancing new arguments that, as president-elect, he should be immediately afforded the protections given to a sitting Oval Office occupant.

Merchan rejected both immunity arguments and days ago scheduled Trump’s sentencing for Friday, stressing a desire for finality in the trial proceedings before the case likely freezes upon Trump’s inauguration.

Liberals rejoice.  A convict tag has been had.

No surprise -- Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett joined with the court’s three liberals to deny Trump’s request.

What's going to be interesting is what his sentencing is going to be; especially since he has not been sworn in yet and he's just days away from the oval office.

Trump will wear it proudly. His team is working overtime to spin this into a win, like they did with the taxes and the mugshot and the "garbage people" slam, etc.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

Yes, he will be the first convicted felon who is President of the United States.

A patriotic Supreme Court would have never permitted this to happen.

Shame on Roberts and Barrett, likely the same two who refused to hear Texas v Pennsylvania which would have likely stopped Biden from becoming President and ruining this country.
