When will Trump take office? Everything you need to know about the 2025 inauguration

President Donald J. Trump will be sworn-in two weeks from today.

On January 20, 2025 at noon, he will cement a spectacular political comeback after his historic election win that was two years, two months and five days in the making.

Thousands will gather in the nation's capital to watch him take the oath of office as President Joe Biden, 82, leaves the White House after four years.

The historic day will be draw to a close with glitzy inaugural balls, where the 47th president will dance with the incoming First Lady Melania Trump.

DailyMail.com answers some of the key questions on the day Trump will return as the commander-in-chief.

When is Trump's 2024 inauguration date?
The 20th Amendment mandates that a new president's term starts at 12 p.m. on January 20th the year following a presidential election.

The inauguration takes place on January 21st if the 20th falls on a Sunday.  It requires them to take the oath of office.

Beyond that, inaugural festivities are guided by tradition - with a luncheon, a parade and balls generally all part of that special day.

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on 20 January.

The ceremony will take place in Washington DC and marks the peaceful transition of power from Joe Biden to Mr Trump - who is returning to the White House for a non-consecutive second term.

Here is your guide to everything we know so far about the events that will happen during the day and night.

When to expect oaths of office and Trump's speech

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the US Capitol building.

Vice president-elect JD Vance will be first to take his oaths of office on 20 January, followed by Mr Trump.

This typically happens at around midday local time (about 5pm UK time).

John Roberts, the chief justice of the Supreme Court, is expected to administer the oath to the incoming president, in line with tradition.

Mr Trump will hold up his right hand and place his left on a Bible. The Bible is usually held by the incoming president's spouse.

I heard some newscaster on one of the DNC channels interviewing a legal expert asking (more like begging): "Isn't there some law that a convicted felon cannot be sworn in!?"

This was Merchan's (and the people who own him) plan the whole time. Stamp Trump with the convicted felon tag and he cannot be President. Unfortunately for them, it does not work that way.

Saturday, Jan. 18

On Saturday, a president's reception and fireworks display will take place at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, as well as a Cabinet reception and vice president’s dinner.

Sunday, Jan. 19

Sunday, Jan. 19, will include a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, Trump’s MAGA “Victory Rally” at Capital One Arena in Washington, and a candlelight dinner.

Monday, Jan. 20

Inauguration Day will start with a service at St. John’s church, followed by tea at the White House.

Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance are scheduled to be sworn in at noon, followed by the official farewell for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump will then head to the President’s Room near the Senate chamber, where it’s tradition to sign nominations.

Following the signing room ceremony, there’s a luncheon hosted by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. Trump will then kick off the presidential parade, which goes from the Capitol down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, with a review of the troops.

After the parade and an Oval Office signing ceremony, Trump will attend three inaugural balls, the “Commander in Chief Ball,” the “Liberty Inaugural Ball” and the “Starlight Ball,” and he is expected to speak at all three, according to the press release.

Tuesday, Jan. 21

Inaugural activities will conclude with the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning..........

I don't see this as any big deal.

My hunch is this inauguration will be the most watched inauguration in history.  Trump has made history by his landslide victories and IMHO he'll continue to make history.

Nor do I.  I am deeply concerned for the welfare of Trump and Melania's safety. 

What struct me as a little off is in another post they said that they've been planning for this for 12 months.  Really?  So they knew 12 months  ago that Trump was going to be nominated as President?

Keep praying that this inauguration is completely peaceful and for the safety of the Trump family.

Secret Service to use drones during Trump inauguration

The U.S. Secret Service intends to use drones before and on Inauguration Day as part of heightened security measures in place in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans.

On January 3, USSS special agent in charge of the Washington field office Matt McCool announced that drones would be part of larger security protocols implemented in Washington, D.C., throughout the month of January, especially during the swearing in of the new Congress, the funeral events for the late President Jimmy Carter, and the upcoming inauguration.

"While I advise everyone that the Secret Service will use drones as part of our comprehensive security plan, do not be alarmed if you see these assets during the upcoming events or training in the days ahead," McCool said less than two weeks ago.

McCool then reiterated those remarks at a press conference on Monday. "The Secret Service's comprehensive security plan will continue to use drones as part of our protective [plan]," he said, according to Susan Crabtree of RealClearPolitics. "Do not be alarmed if you see these assets during the inauguration or training in the days ahead.".......................
