Blue Jays were very impressive last night, especially young Yesavage!

Yesavage has a "twelve o'clock" delivery...not like the vast majority who throw from 10 or 2 o'clock.

Hard to pick up the spin...plus the glove hand 'hides' the ball until it's already on you.

Been a long time since we've seen that...imagine what it was like for the Dodger lineup

Do y'all have a favorite? I thought I was going to root for the Jays, but after hearing the national anthems the first couple of nights, I just couldn't root against an American team. The Dodgers do irk me, and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for George Springer, but Canada vs. America? Can't root against America.  :patriot: That said, I won't be unhappy if the Jays win.  wink777

Predictions? Will the Jays wrap it up tonight? Will it go to 7? Who will prevail?

American team?  The Dodgers are from the Soviet Republic of California.

If you read all the on-line butt hurt of Dodger fans (still) about 2017, you might change your mind.

I wish they'd go 0-162 next year,. /s

Since it's unlikely the team of my youth, the Pirates, ever will be in another World Series in my lifetime, I tend to root for the American League contender. Doesn't matter who (except the Yankees - I'll never root for them). There's little about L.A. or California to like, so that's another strike (no pun intended) against the Dodgers.

Loved all those guys, @Hoodat , but Roberto was and ever shall be my favorite. (Granted, with Dock it was "better pitching through chemistry," or some such thing).

Dock Ellis performed the greatest sports feat in all of human history.  No feat in any other sport even comes close.

On June 12, 1970, Dock Ellis threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres while tripping on acid.

A few 2025 post script observations:

Longest streak in MLB history around "repeat championships" ended last night at 24 years.   The Dodgers back to back is the first since the Yankees back to back to back '98- '00.  Previous longest repeat streak of years was 13 years, '78 -'91.

Sleepless in Seattle
-----------------------

Team that has never even made a WS appearance- Seattle Mariners

Teams that have never won a World Series

Milwaukee Brewers
San Diego Padres
Tampa Bay Rays
Colorado Rockies

And let's not forget that the highest paid team budget this year by far was the Dodgers at $240M

And the ugly stat?  None of the teams ranked 17th- 30th even made the playoffs;
