Trump Needs To Be Ready For The Gathering Storm Over H1B Visas
Derek Hunter

Businesses love cheap labor like a fat kid loves cake. The reason we have so many illegal aliens in the United States is we have so many companies willing and wanting to hire them. They aren’t simply hiring them over Americans, they’re hiring them over Americans for much cheaper than they can hire Americans – many times for cash, avoiding taxes. It’s just a simple fact of economics, made much worse by the failures of Joe Biden and his administration to secure the border. But the fight that is brewing just over the horizon is not about illiterate illegal aliens coming to service the physical labor tasks around the houses of rich Democrats; it is about the fight over the legal immigrants these Democrats will not fire for making eye contact or speaking to the: people coming to the United States on a H1B visa.

The American Immigration Council describes an H1B visa as “a temporary (nonimmigrant) visa category that allows employers to petition for highly educated foreign professionals to work in ‘specialty occupations’ that require at least a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. Jobs in fields such as mathematics, engineering, technology, and medical sciences often qualify. Typically, the initial duration of an H-1B visa classification is three years, which may be extended for a maximum of six years.  Before an employer can file a petition with USCIS, the employer must take steps to ensure that hiring the foreign worker will not harm U.S. workers.”

These visas came into existence to fill the void left by the failing American education system. We were not creating enough educated, skilled workers, instead pumping out gender and race studies grievance drones and sociologists to manufacture studies to keep them feeling self-righteous.

It probably isn't.  And this needs to change.

I also think somewhere in this mix there needs to be a requirement that proves employers performed a national search for candidates, and evidence the American candidate was not qualified.  The Visa should be a last resort, not a first choice to control/reduce labor costs.

The UGLY TRUTH of it all is that the existing laws to protect USA citizens in the workforce are being ignored across the board.  We have 1.6 million H1-b Visa recipients right now, and Trump has promised to increase the number of recipients to satisfy Silicon Valley tech billionaires.  If he does this, it will be his 2nd time he has kissed their bloody posterior!!!!

1.6 million USA citizens have been displaced from the workforce because of the H1-b Visa policy.  And that number is going up thanks to Trump promising the tech billionaires to do so.

IT VIOLATES FEDERAL LAW!  But everyone involved including Trump has ignored the law.

I fully support the end of the H1-b Visa Program.  I know hundreds of people that had to seek alternate careers because they were displaced by the H1-b Visa Program for low cost foreign workers.

AND WORSE IS THE USE OF EVEN LOWER COST LABOR BY TECH FOLKS STILL IN CHINA, INDIA, AND UKRAINE.  These are the primary nation's people that benefit.  But my problem is that many federally funded projects are shipping US taxpayer dollars overseas to fund the work of these people.  It is wrong.

And after being on half a dozen projects operating with a large contingent of foreign labor working in their country, I am not a believer that there is a benefit.  Just the language barriers alone are significant!  Differences in culture also enter into the equation to slow the progress of projects.

It is not a mystery why real incomes have not increase over the last 30 years.  We have basically bent over the American worker, and have stuck it to them every day over the past 30 years.  The exception was the 4 years Trump was president.  People actually saw some increase in their incomes.  That will be harder with this 2nd Trump term because the Biden Idiocracy have cost the American worker dearly.  Their purchasing power has been cut in half.

I a so sick and tired of hearing inflation has been 20%.  An absolute lie.  Most what we buy at the grocery store has double or tripled.  I could give many examples.  Olive oil.  Used to pay $6 a bottle.  now that reduced size bottle is $18.  Even regular vegetable oil, used to be $3.29 a bottle, now it is $12 a bottle.  Ground beef, used to be $3.99 a pound, is now $8.99 a pound in Georgia.

And interest rates, toward the end of Trump's 1st term got as low as 1.8% for a mortgage, and is now 6.6 - 7.0% for a 30 year fixed rate mortgage.  WHAT PERCENT IS THAT FOLKS?  AND IT BEING THE PRIMARY COST FOR MOST HOUSEHOLDS!!!

New cars have doubled in price!  The car I bought a few years ago when Trump was POTUS is now twice as expensive.  I just bought a 3 year old Lexus for 45% of its current new price.  I could never afford the $100,000 for the new version of the same vehicle.

And in California where they are attempting to eliminate the combustion engine, going to EVs exclusively, what happens when there are almost no used EVs to acquire in CA in the secondary market[used cars]?  Most EVs are leased, and when they are finished, they are shipped to another country and sold like a new car.  The secondary market will not have any cars.  WE WILL BEGIN LOOKING LIKE CUBA IN CALIFORNIA, WITH PEOPLE DRIVING 20, 30, 40 YEAR OLD CARS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AFFORD THE EVs!!!  UGGGH!  THE IDIOCY OF CALIFORNIA, AND THEIR INFLUENCE OVER MUCH OF THE NATION WILL CAUSE REAL HARM TO FOLKS IN THE USA.

Back to the topic:

END THE H1-B VISA PROGRAM NOW!!!
RESTORE THE RIGHTS OF AMERICAN CITIZENS IN THE WORKPLACE NOW!!!!

That indeed needs to somehow be changed.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
The complexity of H1B's is that too many American college graduates today overestimate their talent and want $250K and 40 hours a week that should really pay $80 starting wage.

And on the other side the employer wants to lowball at $40K and 80 hours a week, and use all sorts of sketchy tricks to sidestep things and hire cheap labor to save a buck.

I am not sure how to create a middle ground that balances both sides.
The Republic is lost.

You're right, college graduates need to lower their expectations, but on the other side there's azzhats in the corporate world; hot shot lawyers, out of control CEO's, backstabbing owners, etc., who will take advantage of those they hire because of their lack of experience.

The USA has a long history of abuse to the workforce.  The unions organized because of that abuse in the blue collar arena.  They have slipped with their membership, because the jobs have been shipped to China, Mexico or elsewhere.

But there is no one representing the white collar workers.  NO ONE!!!  And government elected officials have not enforced the law, so Americans get abused.

An enterprising union would do well to begin to organize white collar workers.  1.6 million USA citizen displaced from their jobs.  And there are millions being used for tech in Ukraine, China and India without leaving their country.  More jobs lost!!!

I know so many folks in tech, and the ones working, I tell them, save your money because you could be next to be displaced by the H1-b Visa Program, or the coming AI invasion in all things.  That's coming like a runaway train down the tracks!

There is no middle ground, and there will be no motivation for business owners to give one sh*t about USA workers.  Don't hold your breath.  70% in tech work now will be displaced by AI and further adoption of the H1-b Visa Program.

This begins with eliminating any reward given companies for DEI policies.

The dirty little secret is that hiring an Indian national is recognized the same as hiring an American minority as a brownie point.

Companies need the best, not to pad any ridiculous DEI
