Rand Paul: Bill ‘Full of Pork’ Shows Speaker Johnson Is a ‘Weak, Weak Man’

Hannah Knudsen 18 Dec 2024

The recently unveiled government funding bill “full of pork” shows that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is a “weak, weak man,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Wednesday.

The 1,547-page spending deal released Tuesday night includes a multitude of controversial items, including a pay raise for members of Congress.

“I had hoped to see @SpeakerJohnson grow a spine, but this bill full of pork shows he is a weak, weak man,” Paul said.

“The debt will continue to grow. Ultimately the dollar will fail. Democrats are clueless and Big Gov Republicans are complicit,” he added. “A sad day for America.”

What is Congress hiding in this bill? Pay raises for themselves, huge giveaways to Big Pharma, and giving liberal DC a football stadium for the "Commanders" – the same team that was forced to change its name from Redskins by woke activists.

BREAKING: A new provision in the latest CR lets Congress block subpoenas for House data, including emails, potentially  preventing any investigation into the J6 Committee.

Speaker Johnson's 1,547-page spending monstrosity has a little gift to Pelosi's Partisan J6 Committee.

Buried way down in section 605 is a passage that would shield House members from independent investigators.

"MOTIONS TO QUASH OR MODIFY—Upon a motion made promptly by a House office or provider for a House office, a court of competent jurisdiction shall quash or modify any legal process directed to the provider for a House office if compliance with the legal process would require the disclosure of House data of the House office."

What does this mean in plain English? ...

It's not that he's weak.  It's that he's part of the problem.  It takes a strong-willed man to push all these extras through and literally shout out one big 'F U' to every Republican (and Republican House member) voter who put him in power.

This isn't weakness.  This is corruption through and through.  Speaker Johnson has taken an active role not only in continuing the Democrats's spending priorities from 2022, but also in piling on more spending on top of it as well as protecting themselves from any scrutiny of illegal activities.

This bill will dole out another $125 million of taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood so that they can kill more babies.  Don't let anyone ever tell you that Mike Johnson is pro-life.  By his actions, he is not.

Anyone willing to say 'no'.  Preferably by someone who is not a House member.  Someone like Dave Ramsey.

That is my question as well.

On another thread I extended Johnson some mercy because of the conditions he is dealing with...slim majority and warring Repubs. However, after reading some of the things included in this bill I'll have to withdraw that mercy. It just makes me throw my hands up in the air. 9999hair out0000

Johnson faces GOP revolt over bloated bill to prevent government shutdown

.

House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) speakership could be in danger as the GOP conference revolts against negotiated government funding legislation that includes billions of dollars in additional spending and unrelated provisions tucked into the thousand-page document.

The continuing resolution would extend current government funding levels until mid-March 2025 while also tacking on an extra $110.5 billion in disaster aid and economic assistance for farmers — provisions that several Republicans have criticized for not including spending cuts elsewhere to offset the costs.

Although a vote on the CR is expected in the next few days, outrage among members could remain high and spill over into January 2025 — raising concerns for Johnson as he hopes to lock up support for speakership elections on Jan. 3.

“I’ll vote for somebody else,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) told reporters Wednesday, making him the first House Republican to say he would prop up another candidate for speaker.

“The CR was expected to be about 30 pages, and this is 1,500 pages,”  he added. “So it’s 50 times worse, numerically.”

Let that sink in.  Someone has been busy writing up 1,470 pages of new spending on top of a $2 trillion deficit.

No votes tonight. They are re-working legislation and likely going to do clean CR.

And it's all a Dem wish list. So who actually wrote this $#!t, I have to wonder?

Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' like a 1,500-page CR wrapped in a bow of runaway spending. Sorry, D.C., but this present is getting returned to sender.

👌This is great, yes, & I expect nothing less than this from sensible Texas Republicans but this CR isn’t just packed w/ out of control spending. It contains provisions to fund continued censorship of Americans - via a years’ worth of funding the infamous “Global Engagement Center.” It funds bioweapons labs. It shields congresscritters from subpoenas so that illegal behavior from asswipes like Swalwell & lizard people like Schiff can be unpunished & continue in secret. The people that drafted these kinds of provisions in the CR need to be publicly outed, shamed, fired, arrested. The CR is a criminal conspiracy

The spending bill includes a provision for the extension of the Global Engagement Center. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a censorship regime.

The GEC has been used to surveil and censor domestic speech, particularly English language content, since its inception.

The Global Engagement Center (GEC) is an agency within the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Global Public Affairs, established in 2016 to lead U.S. government efforts in countering foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation.

Its official mission is to "recognize, understand, expose, and counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining or influencing the policies, security, or stability of the United States, its allies, and partner nations."

The GEC has been slammed for overstepping its mandate by engaging in activities perceived as censorship, particularly within the U.S.

The GEC has funded organizations like the Global Disinformation Index, which has been accused of targeting conservative media outlets to reduce their advertising revenue by blacklisting them as potential sources of disinformation. This has led to claims that the GEC has been involved in domestic censorship efforts, despite its stated focus on foreign threats, which, I mean, is pretty obvious.
