Trump plan to revive Keystone XL Pipeline faces huge hurdles

President-elect Donald Trump repeatedly said he would resurrect the Keystone XL Pipeline on the campaign trail, pumping up the cross-border project as a boon for big energy and a must-have for the United States.

However, is the controversial pipeline something that could really come to fruition or just another pipe dream?

Chris Wright, Trump’s pick for energy secretary, told Barron’s that restarting the ambitious pipeline was one of the most important things the government could do to boost energy supplies.

“Number one, restore the Keystone Pipeline,” said Wright, chief executive of Liberty Energy, a Denver-based fracking company. “It’s already been through an exhaustive environmental review. Canada is probably the second biggest country that could grow its oil and natural gas production. It’s just limited by access to markets. Build that pipeline, restore some confidence in Canada, and in the U.S. industry.”

Despite the push from Trump and Wright, restarting the venture could be extremely difficult and costly. Then there’s the delicate process of trying to convince people to get excited about a pipeline that has been litigated ad nauseam and turned their world upside down in the past.

It's been so long ago, but didn't Canada look at Plan "B" options after Biden f'ed us?

XL might not be on the table anymore.

They did! They expanded the Trans Mountain Pipeline (Edmonton, Alberta to Burnaby, BC) to carry 890,000 BOPD and it goes mainly to Asian markets. With ESG controlling development capital, and the lack of need to ship oil south, the numbers on additional pipeline heading our way from Canada may not work.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

What's needed (perhaps more than Keystone, at least right now) is one or more new natural gas pipelines from Pennsylvania into New England.

But New York State is in the way -- won't permit them.

Do something about THAT, Mr. Trump.

Biden blessed foreign governments and lands with Canadian cheap oil,  and kept prices of oil for Americans high.  The fools/stooges still remain silent to Biden criticizing and still fanatically criticizing Trump like the blind political stooges they are.  Just like giving jihadist muslims a pass while heavily criticizing Christians.  Satans Stoogery fools changeth little.

The biggest drawback is that 'pre-Biden', Canada was paying for it.  But there is no way in heck they are paying for it now.  They took that money and spend it on the Vancouver pipeline instead.

Before Biden, we had Canada building a pipeline for the US so that they could sell us oil to Gulf Coast refineries below the world price.  But now we have Canada selling oil to China instead at the going rate.  There is no way Canada will reverse course at this point.  Building the pipeline is still a good idea.  But we will have to pay for it, and we won't be getting oil at a discount.  All thanks to the worst President this country has ever had.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-
