Biden Is Ceding Presidential Influence to Trump, and Some Democrats Are Furious

The American tradition is that the nation has only one president at a time. Right now, that president looks like Donald Trump—because President Biden is ceding the spotlight.

While Biden remained in Washington, it was the president-elect who met on Saturday in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, who is lobbying Trump to continue wartime aid.

At the time they met, Damascus was falling to rebels in Syria. While Trump briefly spoke to reporters about Ukraine and posted online about U.S. interests in Syria—saying “this is not our fight”—Biden didn’t make a public appearance on Saturday and waited until Sunday to comment on Syria. The fragility of these two regions in the world has many leaders and businesses on edge.

Trump is already dictating trade and immigration policy and has moved rapidly to remake the U.S. government. He doesn’t take office for six weeks, but many people who had been his fiercest critics in Washington—and the White House—have mostly stood aside.

Why are they upset?  Everyone now knows, who wishes to be honest with themselves, Biden has never run this country.  He is just someone's puppet and ceded the presidency to that person, or persons, long ago.

Hypothetically, they should be POed. Biden is President and should be the leader in US foreign policy. Putting it simply, Biden can't be that leader, because mentally he isn't "all there". The Dems knew that 2 or more years ago, and that he was slipping before then. They could have 25th-Amendmented Biden out of office, replaced him with Kammie, and given her Presidential prominence, but for various reasons did not (the reality of Kammie probably being one reason). A consequence of that choice is that Biden, probably knowingly, is deferring foreign policy to some degree to President-elect Trump. POed Dems are, IRL, POed by their own Biden-or-Bust choice.

We really need to move Inauguration day up.  Congress doesn't have to travel by horse and buggy or EV to get to DC anymore.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.
