I got the emergency alert on my cell phone an hour or so ago. The map posted above places the quake 40-50 miles SW of Eureka and about 20 miles into the Pacific from the nearest part of the coast. Probably the main area for potential danger was from around Brookings, OR south to Fort Bragg, CA or Point Arena. Where I live, San Jose, is on the order of 275 miles from the epicenter, so I didn't feel it and being 25 or 30 miles from the coast with the Santa Cruz Mountains in between, am not in a danger area.
