Aurora apartment caretaker says residents are not paying rent
DENVER (KDVR) — A court-appointed caretaker of the Whispering Pines apartments in Aurora, Colorado, is hard at work securing the property, according to a report filed with the courts on Nov. 20, but he’s struggling to get residents to pay rent.
On Sept. 29, Kevin Singer was appointed by a judge to be the receiver for the Whispering Pines apartments at 1357 Helena St. The appointment came just days after residents called on the city to force the then-property management company, CBZ Management, to clean up what residents called an unhealthy living environment.
Receivers, as explained by Metropolitan State University of Denver Assistant Real Estate Professor Jeff Peshut, “step into the shoes of the owner” and make decisions for a property in its best interests.

The apartments were associated with The Edge at Lowry apartments, where a video was taken of six armed men in a stairwell that has gone viral. Since then, the six men in the video have been identified and some have been connected to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
