Biden Ends Five-Day Thanksgiving Vacation with Flight to Africa

Simon Kent 1 Dec 2024

Lame duck President Joe Biden concluded a five-day vacation break in Nantucket on Saturday night by returning to Washington, DC, before leaving for Angola within a matter of hours.

Biden, who will stay in capital city Luanda from Monday to Wednesday, will be the first U.S. president to visit the oil-rich country since it won independence from Portugal in 1975.

The trip comes 49 days before he hands the levers of power to Republican President-elect Donald Trump.

Previously on Thanksgiving Day, the octogenarian went to a fire station to deliver pumpkin pies with his wife, Jill, and grandson Beau, AFP reports.

The first lady told firefighters and police officers the family has been going to Nantucket for Thanksgiving since 1975, an outing the family has come to call “nana-tucket” saluting her central role in establishing the tradition.

Beautiful downtown Luanda. I hope there's an ice cream parlor.

Or is he running from his pardon of his son Hunter Biden????
https://worldnews.whatfinger.com/2024/12/02/president-biden-pardons-his-son-hunter/

Will he go to Angola or quickly move to Zimbabwe that does not have extradition with the US and leave the White House for good?

Quote:
Analysis: From my readings, Zimbabwe’s decision not to have an extradition treaty with the U.S. can be seen as a way to maintain sovereignty and resist Western influence, especially given the history of sanctions and criticisms from the U.S

Why Angola? There has to be something in it for him.

To runway from American press scrutiny and to talk Angola out of developing its fossil fuel resources.

Kicked off the trip giving his druggie son a get-out-of-jail-free card. I wonder if the unemployed Hunter et famille are on this trip, too.

Thousands cheer Biden's arrival in Angola for his long-promised sub-Saharan Africa visit
Story by GERALD IMRAY and WILL WEISSERT
AP via MSN

LUANDA, Angola (AP) — President Joe Biden arrived for his long-awaited first presidential visit to sub-Saharan Africa on Monday to the cheers of thousands in Angola, where he will highlight an ambitious U.S.-backed railway project meant to counter China’s influence on the continent of over 1.4 billion people.

Biden's three-day visit to Angola will focus largely on the Lobito Corridor railway redevelopment in Zambia, Congo and Angola. It aims to advance the U.S. presence in a region rich in the critical minerals used in batteries for electric vehicles, electronic devices and clean energy technologies. ...
Seriously, a President needs to fly to Africa to talk about a railroad? Not a trade envoy or other representative? Perhaps Angola is going to become the Bidens' new Ukraine, as far as their bank accounts are concerned.

He probably went to Angola to die...that's why he Pardoned Hunter first.

Nah, Biden wants to end Angola's hopes for a prosperous future by stopping development of their fossil energy deposits.

He'll send $$$ to Angola for the railroad, and then get a kickback. And a little for Hunter and Jim, too.

Biden says the US is ‘all in’ on Africa during his Angola visit meant to counter China
By  WILL WEISSERT
Updated 11:35 AM EST, December 3, 2024
Associated Press

LUANDA, Angola (AP) — Joe Biden on Tuesday used the first visit to Angola by a U.S. president to promote billions of dollars of commitments to the sub-Saharan African nation and speak at a slavery museum, where he’ll acknowledge the trafficking that once linked the nations’ economies.

“The United States is all in on Africa,” Biden told Angolan President João Lourenço, who called Biden’s visit a key turning point in U.S.-Angola relations dating back to the Cold War.

But even as the trip was meant to counter China’s influence on the African continent of over 1.4 billion people by showcasing a U.S. commitment of $3 billion for the Lobito Corridor railway redevelopment linking Zambia, Congo and Angola, China announced its own move. ...
If there aren't kickbacks involved, I'd be very surprised.
