Gen Z workers are entering the workforce with high hopes and ambitions, but the transition isn't going as planned for many.

A September survey published by Intelligent.com found that 60% of employers have already let go of Gen Z hires just months after they started. The reasons are piling up: lack of motivation, poor communication skills and unprofessional behavior are at the top of the list. Employers have also flagged issues like tardiness, inappropriate workplace attire and unrealistic expectations for quick promotions.

Much of the problem is progressive/woke policies of democrats of which one major one, education, has become a leader in the demise of business skills such as hard work, effective communication skills, problem solving skills, and striving for excellence, once learned in public schools.  The welfare state certainly doesn't encourage working hard to get ahead.  Neither does it encourage self-pride.  It raises the expectation of losing a job as no big deal since the poor worker feels he/she will be taken care of by Uncle Sugar.

The problem is that many of this generation were raised by helicopter parents who never expected these children to do anything for themselves, who berated teachers who gave them less-than-perfect grades, who didn't require them to do chores around the house let alone get part-time jobs when they were old enough, and who gave them every little gadget, toy, and device they ever wanted. They are an entitled generation, who believe their reward for finishing college on their parents' dime (where inflated grades show them to be absolute geniuses) should be $500,000 per year to do nothing.

 Sit at a desk for eight hours a day? Show up on time and not leave until close of business? And then actually work?!?!? Are you kidding me?!

To be fair this isn't Gen Z across the board, here in the Midwest they are a far better caliber. Yes they are still a little too enamored with their 'genius' and their 'words' but I've seen quite a number that do well in the workforce and work like they're hungry.

That said, the education system is equal in the sense that it poorly educates everyone across the board. Which means management is equally as dumb as the workers. It's as pathetic as I've seen in my 40+ years of employment. I wouldn't want to work for them either.

Absolutely no critical or analytical thinking abilities, let alone "skills".
We've had a few "unicorns", but they're quite rare.
And personalities on most are atrocious. No manners, no interpersonal skills, no willingness to get up and go engage face to face. smdh
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

We see more of those "unicorns" in the oil patch. Good money for those willing to work for it. There are a lot of Veterans, too, who don't mind the hours so much or the conditions, and who can follow orders and get the job done.
It is not an environment for the faint of ability or heart, but those who come to work do well as a rule. The others are weeded out pretty fast.

In a "hands on" career, I should expect so. I should have clarified, mine are all college grads (aeronautical engineering types). I'm a bit of a mustang, no degree (unless one counts 20+ years in AF maintenance) yet work in engineering. My field involves actually doing work with aircraft and mechanics. One of the first things I take note of when meeting a new hire is their hands. Soft, bony hands usually indicate someone who hasn't "worked". Rough and meaty generally means they have. The new hires are taken aback when I ask to see the hands. My unicorns are usually those who have had to work to get where they are. My last one was the first in his family to get a degree and he worked while doing so.

HR is feeding the beast by only hiring those who check certain boxes. They are killing aerospace because of their woke, biased bull$h!t. Even though there's a probationary period, HR makes it so damned difficult to deal with the undesirables, that by the time we get all the justification past the gatekeepers, it's too late, they're kept on.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

Thankfully, the oil patch is a more mission oriented environment. If it does not get results, it's dead weight, and that gets cut quickly. New hires can check all the boxes they want, if they can't get the job done they generally don't last. Most HR types are aware of this, and hire accordingly. 
Some will surprise you, and take to the 'doing' aspect well, but generally, I agree. Thin fingers and soft hands aren't a hallmark of folks who work where the rubber meets the road. Farm kids, veterans, and an assortment of determined blue collar folks form most of the crews.
Office hiring may be a tad different, but results still matter.
I have seldom worked in and around that environment, preferring the field.
